Moving to Conover, North Carolina

We just bought a house in Conover, NC and I'm wondering if there are any Z06 Members in the area. I've been to several cruises at Valdese on Friday nights and one in Hildebran on Saturday night but haven't seen any Z06's.

We still have to sell our house so it might be a couple of months before we are moved in for good but my wife and I are really looking forward to it. The only bummer is that I won't be able to make the Performance Fest again this year.

The fact is, my brother lives in Hickory; my nephew lives in Monroe; my niece lives in Wingate; my wife has a sister in Durham; a sister near Statesville; and a sister in Columbia, SC. Two more reasons are: 1. Conover is only 4 hrs from the beach and 2. Mother-in-law lives close to us in WV. She will still have two of her sons that can take over what she needs done instead of us.

The only downside is that our two boys will have to stay in WV. The youngest has 13 more hours (1 year) to finish graduate school at WVU and the oldest has 10 more months on his lease. After that I look for them to move near us in NC.

WV is a beautiful state for sure, and I DO miss the country roads...BUT...moving OUT of there was the best thing I ever did. You will LOVE NC!!!

Re: Moving to Conover, North Carolina

After 5 trips back and forth to WV with my enclosed car trailer we are now residents of NC although we are still running WV plates on our vehicles.

We are in a subdivision that is about 8 years old and my neighbor is in the process of putting twin turbos on his 93 C4 so we have been able to bond.

Yesterday I drove the Z06 to Davidson, NC to Tom Cotter's 10th annual Woody Party. He wrote one of the 10 best books about NASCAR and also wrote for Road and Track. There were at least 100 cars parked in his yards, several of which were genuine Cobras probably worth $500,000 to a million. One had the original paint that George Barris painted. It was full of cracks but worth a lot. There was a Scarab which was made in 1936 by an aircraft designer in Dearborn, MI. It was the first car without running boards and only 9 were made with just 5 still in existence. I was standing next to Ricky Rudd and didn't even know it until my brother jabbed me in the ribs.

Maybe since I missed this years Z06 Fest because of the move I can make it next year because I miss all of my buddies including the blonde that used to live in Parkersburg.

Mike, I'm about 40 miles from Lake Norman so the next time you come down give me a call. I'll email you my home phone.
