New camera!!

Just got a new Nikon D80 and ordered a 18-200mm lense for it. Love the camera 99% of the time I just leave it on automatic and it takes awesome pics! Anyone else got this camera or advice on how to take awesome car pics?
Here is one of my first but the sun was going down fast!

Re: New camera!!

Where is the photo? Gald you found a good camera. I was debating the canon 40D. I have an older Mxxum 5, but still takes awesome pics. Just a 5 MP DSLR Camera. But I seen your ride in person at LGs and it looked great then too, minus the rain all over it!

Re: New camera!!

watch that 200 lens. .if it is the one that came in the kit..it is probably a 5.6 lens.. that won't work well in low light..
you will get a lot of camera shake.
and no depth of field.. well .. that looks good in that pic . i like the blurry background

have fun with it.. the computer is pretty smart.

Re: New camera!!

I just bought the Nikon D80 for my wife on her birthday. We have been using Nikons for over thirty years. What we liked about the D80 was that it could use our old lenses. She loves it, and is glad to have finally moved into the photo digital age.

Re: New camera!!

I just purchased a Nikon D80 last month...very easy to use, but more difficult to get really good pictures (due to my lack of skill, not the camera). I have the 18-55 VR and 70-300 VR lenses...both very nice for a beginner like me. I'm having a blast learning about both the camera and everything else related to digital imaging/management! I've been using a Canon Powershot for the past few years, but hadn't gotten into post processing or anything else like that.

Re: New camera!!

Been looking at an SLR myself.
Looks like the D80 may be the way to go.

i have one.. use it at weddings.. "with lots of light"

i have a 70-200 2.8 lens that was 1600 $ and is amazing in low light.
it is 2.8 from 70-200
no fall off.. wow.. its amazing.

Re: New camera!!

The 18-200 is great for everybody, it is on my D300 most of the time. the 70-200/2.8 is awesome for the low light/action stuff though.

You will be very happy with the D80 & 18-200 combo, just ask z06nut!
