PHOTO: L5 Fender Flares for C5

Team, I have dabbled across the idea of fender flares for my ride, but wasn't too sold on the idea. With the desire to get wider tires, it seemed like a nice alternative to mini-tubbing but after seeing a few pics, I wasn't all that impressed.

Well, guess what....

As I was driving to work this morning, I had a bright idea.....

An Arctic White (or some sort of "off white") Toyota Tundra or Toyota Tacoma passed me with those plastic fender flares over all 4 tires. However, they were all BLACK, like that exterior black plastic that usually fades over time in the sun.

Regardless, it gave me an idea! All the C5s with the L5 fender flares were always painted to match the same color as the car itself. Now I am wondering, if I went with the fender flare kit for all 4 wheels and had the quarter panels painted arctic white, but the flare itself painted flat black..... Hmmmm.... What do you think? Given my look now, do you think this would look good? Having the quarter panels artic white but the flares painted black?

Sort of like the truck I saw......

Here is a rough PHOTOCHOP of what it could look like....

What do you think? I actually think it would look great! I would prefer some aftermarket snap on vs an entire rear quarter panel, but are they available? At least if I don't like the look I can always remove vs having to pay $1000 + paint and not like it.

Guys, if'n it's not too much to ask, I'm also interested in where you got them and how much you paid.

I have been giving this mod quite a bit of thought. I've seen the L5s on the rear only, and didn't like it *because* the front wasn't flared. I haven't seen a picture of both front and rear flares together. I desperately need to get more tire on the car. I'm running 315s now and they spin with ease. I don't like the idea of tubbing because I don't really want to cut in to the body of the car and, my golf clubs/wheelie just fit in the rear with the partition in place. I don't want to give up the cargo room but I *would* like to fit 345s on the back of the car.

Re: PHOTO: L5 Fender Flares for C5

Guess what folks? L5 now has some competition. Found a new website just TODAY that is customizing some new CAD designed quarter panels for FRONT and REAR that have NO flare, but it is almost a wide body panel that is computer designed to be nearly smooth transition all the way and perfectly meet the rocker panels and rear fascia. NO FLARES but you still get the 2" extra width. I spoke with one of the guys in the shop already, "JEFF" and since they are new....I have already asked to be their FITMENT CAR. How cool is that? He said since their opening, several custom shops across the States have already set them behind on orders by 50 sets.

Didn't know anything about the front fenders. Oh well, too late now, I already ordered the new wheels from CCW.

Chris, never got any PM from you. Is i in your draft folder?

The flares may look good on all corners. I dont recall seeing an L5 Corvette with all 4 corners either. I would like to.

Re: PHOTO: L5 Fender Flares for C5

See, looking at the L5 website, it's far from clear that they offer a front fender kit. Rear flares figure prominently but the only hint of anything for the front of the car appears limited to an entire 11 piece body kit which includes the nose and tail pieces. I would be thrilled to be able to put wider fenders on the front and rear of the car, but I don't want to change over anything else... Guess I'll have to send 'em an email and ask!

Welcome aboard M3. Please do a GOOGLE search for L5 Motorsports. Not a site vendor so we can not host links.

Welcome aboard!

Been to L5's site but they don't list wide front fenders...only the rear and/or the L5 body kit. Gr8White...when U made the following reference "Guess what folks? L5 now has some competition. I've tried to reach out to Kerry Hitt at ACP,but they don't respond to email. I work crazy hours so I am unable to readily call them during regular business hours.

I too have tried to reach Kerry Hitt. And as much as I hear he is a great guy, for a CEO of his own Company, the guy is never there, can't be reached, and don't return phone calls for days. I don't see how he stays in business. I have left 2 messages over a weeks time for him to call me because as the useless secretary states "No one but Kerry can answer these questions". Well, what th ehell good is that if you don't have ANYONE in the shop you can TRUST to answer anyones questions about products? One of their website pages has body panel parts without product numbers or prices. I asked the secretary to help me out and she had no clue what parts I was referring to, BECAUSE THERE WERE NO PART NUMBERS!!!! She said "His wife is in charge of the website" Well, it has been incomplete for well over a year.

I hear he has some great products, but customer service SUCKS!!!

I also hear that, when you actually get him on the phone, he is a great guy. The last time I spoke to Kerry, I asked him to work out an out the door price for the Z-11 kit, mounted, painted, etc...I never got a return call. SO how the hell can I trust in that type of service? Oh what, "He is busy" or "He just forgot" Yeah, I guess a $9000 sale is something to "FORGET"

So, he is not on my "A" List right now.

Shoot me a PM and I will send the link to the new competition for L5.

I didn't have a good experience with ACP (although I know others have). Would personally not deal with them again.

I should be receiving my L5's this week sometime. I'll post some pics as soon as I get it all sorted.
