Hey JB, I just got one! It's pretty cool and, as you said, it really does work. It's fascinating watching the robot crawl around the floor.

Now, time to mod it.

I have one. She's about 5'2" and weighs 110 lbs.

My model serves beer!

Re: The Roomba! LOL robotic vacuum cleaner..works pretty good.

I had one for a day and took it back. I've got a pair of Newfoundlands, so pet hair is a fact of life at my house. The Roomba seemed to work well on my tile floors, but I found myself spending as much time cleaning the brush of the Roomba as I would just using my Dyson in the first place. Couple that with the fact that the Roomba wouldn't stand a chance on my carpet and its fate was sealed.

Re: The Roomba! LOL robotic vacuum cleaner..works pretty good.

I don't have a dog so I can't answer the pet question..

I have a kid who runs around making a mess and this roomba's pretty cool.

It works well on the carpets and cermamic tiles .

Just cant' watch it work...

I just leave the floor its on and go upstairs or down...or leave the house..

I find it really helps..

My dad just put hardwoods in a few months ago and I have heard about this thing......Is it really worth the $, or should I continue to sweep? Keep in mind I have 4 cats and 2 dogs, so lots of traffic and hair.

If you go to Irobot's website you will see that they have one designed for pets. Runs about 300 bucks, I think it is worth it.

Does it go in a random pattern or you need to program the pattern? Wondering how much time to clean an area compared to dyson

Juan, although the pattern may look random, it's actually a sophisticated algorithmic process that takes 30-60 minutes to clean the entire room (in english: you do not have to program it). If you need a room cleaned in a hurry, stick with the Dyson. If you're lazy, like me, and all you want to do is push a button and walk out the door, get the Roomba.

Depends on the type of hair. If your dogs/cats leave a lot of long hair around, you'll end up spending a lot of time pulling hair out of the brushes of the Roomba. The other factor for me was the small capacity of the collection bin. If you're cleaning a very large area, it will fill up before the floor is cleaned. Not a huge deal, but something to be aware of just the same.
