Spun a rod bearing
Today I confirmed my low oil pressure issue is a spun rod bearing. Now that I know I must tear down the motor and rebuild, the question is what to do during the rebuild. If at all possible I want to retain the original block. It has 89k miles on it, but should be in good rebuild-able condition. After the tear down inspection, I will have a much better idea of the issues needing to be addressed, boring, etc. For sure the oil galley's need to be inspected and confirmed clear and the cause of the spun bearing identified.
What are the possible options for enhancing the short block? boring, stroking, and how big of a cam can be used within the original constraints of the engine, considering original heads and intake?
I plan on new water pump, oil pump, and all of the consumables belts, hoses, liquids etc.
