Vara Ram

Anybody have a link to or has purchased installed or used a VaraRam Industries "Ultimate Ram Air System".

I found an ad in the new Corvette Quarterly on page 43 but couldn't access their site with the address listed or by "Search".

It appears to take inlet ram air from behind the grills and duct it directly to the air box.

Their website says it will be complete on Sep 18th, this Tuesday, perhaps dyno sheets etc.. will be available at that time.

That much gain on a stock head cam car is not achievable, IMHO. I'd like to be wrong, but, I don't think so. There must be other factors for those reported gains.

RG, VaraRam's area code is "866" not 800. Maybe that's why your call did not go thru.

The VaraRam website is still under construction at www.vararam.com so not much there yet to learn more about the product.

It "looks" like it would be effective and I am interested. However. Kinda expensive though even at "introductory" price.

"35hp" sounds way too good to be true, but at very high speed,
the ram cold air effect could be a significant boost to engine HP. I don't think a typical dyno test, that can only crudely put moving air into the front of the car, will show anywhere near that much. Still, I'd sure like to see how it performs even under dyno test conditions. I definitely would like to know more about this product and appreciate hearing anyone else's comments.

The ram air effect has been debunked. Even at 150mph, there was only about .3 - .5 psi increase....Someone else may have the links to the actual test data....not sure where I saw it.....

JC, I think there was a related thread a few weeks ago in reference to the Halltech system. As I recall someone felt that even a modest boost in air pressure entering the air box would produce measureable improvement in HP. The VaraRam appears to be an alternative to cutting into the radiator shroud to get a cold ram air effect. It is an intriguing design but it seems rather expensive. I wonder if it would yield any better results than the Sidewinder? From the pic in the ad I can't tell if VaraRam has a piece that goes between the TB and MAF like the Cobra MAG. I hope more people enlighten us about this product as VaraRam units start finding there way into some Zs.

Did get the 866 extension to work earlier today and got a machine. I went back to the add in CQ.

Will try tomorrow to see what's up.
