Reliable Car Shipment?

Guys,

I just moved to Missouri from Ohio. I have an 03 Z06 and a 1965 Olds Delta that will have to be shipped. Without any kind of review or recommendation, picking between these companies can...

Re: need more fuel ?

OK guys I'm with you all the away about larger injectors once we've eliminated other common problems. This is a common issue/code for many cars; this isn't anything Corvette specific.

Before...

Re: Air Flow Straighteners

Well, I HAD lean codes but they were part of the after effect of installing cam/header/VRB2. The codes were cleared during the tuning. So the recommendation was in the way of a preventative...

Air Flow Straighteners

The Halltech honeycob flow straightener was suggested to me to add to my 03Z.

My understanding is that turbulence, especially in cars with CAIs, cause the MAF to report inaccurately, resulting...

Re: wont crank

Staying with the theme of eliminate the simple things. How do you know the battery is charged? Presumably, you batt charger gauge? Have you tried jumping it with another car/battery? I cannot...

Re: Lost all my keys...now what?

I haven't owned a car with different keys for door/trunk and ignition in a long time. My 03 Z06 is same as Yuma's.

Re: what size cam and heads

Given your budget, I'd trade/sell and get a later Z06 unless you have some sentimental attachment to that particular car. A low mile 2004 Z06 (last c5) should be obtainable for a reasonable price. ...

Re: Safety

I have a 2003 Z06 and a 3 year old son. I personally would NEVER transport a child of "car seat age" inthe front seat of ANY car. Additionally, I always put the seat in the center of the rear.

Re: Popped the Z06 Cherry

That's the first time I've heard someone say a used car had way to LOW mileage on it! :) I suppose you mean it drives the price to high. I remember when I bought my 2003 Z06, great feeling when I...

Re: Power steering gone and charge system error code

Not sure I would be satisfied with simply putting the belt back on. Something made it come off in the first place: Tensioner not "tense" enough, a frozen pulley (unlikely) belt...

Re: What Brand of Gas do you use?

Shell premium. Still waiting on independent data on the the carbon deposit-fighting ability of the nitrogen additive.

Re: Dyno Tune - Is It Worth It?

^ What he said. ^ I won't call it a waste of money but from all I have heard and seen it is rather low return on investment.

Re: Aftermarket coilovers

@Mike,

Couldn't agree more. The vendor's only concerns with selling whatever you want is that they cover themselves against liabilty suits (hence: "for off-road use only") and that they not ruin...

Re: Has anyone tried these?

I don't judge anyone cuz I know that there are kinds of different things important to us car guys. But I got a chuckle out of the idea that a skid bar needed protection. If it ain't scratched up...

Re: Aftermarket coilovers

Very intersting discussion.

@Otto, I agree with most of what you said.

My major comment here is that you offhandedly dismiss the concern about the added stress on the shock mounting points as...

Re: Cam Installed, Idle Stalled

Updating: The Tuning

Since I first posted; several codes have come and gone, now it's at the tuner. I was getting the "lean bank" deal (P0174, if I remember) and the multi misfire (P0300?). On...

Re: Cam Swap & other mods: Parts Cost $4,500

JUB,
You may be right; unfortunately I can't get it high enough off the ground without a lift to put back the stock mufflers. Poor planning on my part to buy the Borlas first. I may end up kicking...

Re: Cam Swap & other mods: Parts Cost $4,500

Thanks. You know the Borlas on the stock engine/exhaust sounded real nice. With the headers and cats...LOUD. I figured I'd give it while to get used to it.

Cam Swap & other mods: Parts Cost $4,500

Guys,

I was asked how much I spent on my modding project. (03 Z 54,000 miles) I went over my anticipated budget by close to $1000. I am being completely honest and when I couldn't exactly...

Re: LS7 440CI power level

That's a nice project. It would be lovely to be able to do all those mods Jimbo described with the engine out of the car. I always shake my head when I look into the engine bay of my vette then...

I still have my reliable Sears jack. Can't recall the exact model right now. I twill slip under the front of my Z (pushing the spoiler up). Mostly I run up on ramps first to jack from the front. ...

Re: Cam Installed, Idle Stalled

@Rocketsled,

The cold start vs. warm you described is exaclty how it behaves. I tried to make all my planned mods at once (as Mike pointed out), to save on tuning adn re-tuning. P.S. It is hard...
