Just my wacko California opinion. A $1000 downpayment is about right. By shopping around it's possible to find a deal somewhat under MSRP. You can order for courtesy drop to a dealer near you. The key is to find a dealer who has allocations to order Z06s. Also, write a contract with the dealer stating you get your deposit back if the order isn't placed and accepted by GM by a specific date.
