DDLE,
How is one promoted from Jr. Member to the next level?

In everything, 1/4 mile, 0-60, and Road course. As I had read from many magazines such as C/D, R/T.....etc, the time on a 97 Viper GTS is not that much more than the Z, 0-60 MPH in 4.2-4.4 sec, 1/4 mile in 12.6-12.8 sec. From the number, I figured I can take a Viper and let driver's skills determine the rest.

In what category??? 1/4 mile, 0-60, Road course??? which are you refering to?
Do you really think that GM only increased HP by 20 ? Many 01's dyno around 340 X.85 = 405 hp so I bet the 02's are underrated.

In other words, you're saying the 02 is so much better than the 01?
I don't think 20 extra HP (5.2%) is going to be so much more special that now you can take on the mighty viper (450 HP) in pure power.
The 02 is more powerful, but only 5 little percent, so don't go geting all punch-drunk and saying it's that much better than the 01.
Add some nitrous or turbo or supercharger, then you can look down at us stock 01ers.
Besides, as soon as I can order them, I'm going to get the 02 airbox and MAF part, and I'll be very close to 02.
Can I challenge the Viper then?
With a competent driver, all categories.

Question #1: What would be the best gear to throw in when you are doing about 70 MPH? I usually throw it into 3rd and just floor it. The Kirban will get me there in a hurry without mistaken for 5th.
3rd is proper for 70... 2nd gear does between 68-71 MPH... so realistically 2nd isn't going to be appropriate unless doing less than 60MPH
Question #2: What would be a perfect RPM for launching from a dead stop? I usually launch it from 2000 RPM and control the clutch not to allow too much wheel spins.
That sounds about right 1800-2200 w/ Slight clutch slippage.
Thanks
