Have anybody noticed the time stamped on Scott's slips at his website? it said 9/Jun/2001 7:23 PM. OK, I live in TX and it is now 9/Jun/2001 3:15 PM. Do you live in Asia or Europe somewhere Scott? Or the date must be wrong on the computer... Other than that, very impressive numbers for first time at the track......

Hi all,

Yes, ddle, they must have had their clock set wrong, it was Friday 6/8.

I ran with about a half a tank of gas, that doesn't explain the reaction time, must have been napping waiting for the lights. Really, I wasn't taking any lead-off, I was waiting till I saw the green light before I took off. A little practice, which I plan later to do in the next month or so (still cleaning the rubber and tar from this run), I should get into the low 12s.

Cool - my 5th run ever, aside from the 4 I did at the cruie-in last month, I did my 13.10 yesterday ... not bad for a completely lost driver like myself /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif LOL

Torchred,

I'm pretty sure all the reported times begin at the green light, including R/T. So any improvement in R/T comes right off the bottom line.

Scott

Frank, I may be hooked! Am planning next trip back to track for first Monday next month. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Actually your reaction time has nothing to do with your et.
Your et droesn't start till you break the beam so you could cut a 3 second light it doesn't matter in your et.
Remeber if your just going for good et's shallow stage and forget about reaction time just concentrate on a good launch.

If you think of it as a number of beams of light (across from each other)that when you break them certain events happen.
That is why a perfect reaction time is .500
That is because if you react perfectly you will break the start beam .500 seconds later after you reacted.
Now to really through you for a loop your mph read out in the qtr. is actually not what you cross the line at because it is the avg. of two broken beam lines. Near the finish.

Thanks Silver Bullet for peaking my curiosity to look it up! I found a web site that explains the Christmas tree and the starting process, it wasn't what I expected.

Indeed you are correct R/T has nothing to do with the times. Looks like I'll have to concentrate on tire hook-up a lot more.

Thanks for your comments.
