Just did my latest dyno last week - 367.8 rwhp and 360.4 rwt. With 15% drive-line loss, this should equate to 432.7 at the crank (367.8/.85). Since my last run of 349.7 and 346.5, respectively, I've added long-tube headers, removed the pre-cats, ported the throttle body and installed Corsa's new titanium exhaust. The cars runs and sounds awesome!

Let me know what you think of these #'s. Also, what else would you recommend? Now that I've got the car opened up with an intake and exhaust system, I'm thinking larger fuel injectors might be a good next step.

Nice!, have you taken that "bad boy" to the track for some 1/4 mile times yet?

I need to do that. I've never been a track kind of guy. Just been content to get it dynoed and know I can kill (almost) anything on the street that refuses to acknowledge the KING. If I can drive it halfway decent, I ought to turn high 11's. I'll let you know.

TS, when you removed the pre-cats did you add anything to compensate for the removal such as sensors? I am going to have the breathless step headers and x-pipe installed very shortly. I was hoping to remove the cats to get the most hp out of the mod. I just want to make sure I have all of the bases covered. Did you observe any codes or issues after you had the mod done?

Thanks,

Don

With all the mods I've done, I've never had any codes except when my installer hooked my intake up wrong. So, no problems with the removal of the pre-cats at all.

FYI - If you tried to get the license plate "2001 Z06" and it wasn't available, it's because I have it. Sorry!

TS, I did try to get "2001 Z06" for my tag and it was gone. I made the mistake of waiting until January 01 before I went to check on the plate. Maybe if I had done it when I picked up my car in September 00, I may have beat you to it? "Z06 2001", "01 Z06" and "Z06 01" were gone too. I did manage to get one with 01 & Z06 in the name though.

Are the main cats more toward the back, say, after where the x-pipe would be? I am under the impression the pre-cats are the small pieces in the front a little after the exhaust manifold.

I actually ordered my plate in July of 2000, and it was my second choice. My first choice was 01 Z06. It was already gone - but surprisingly 2001 Z06 was still available. Since my car wasn't due to come in until October, I technically designated it for my wife's Durango. However, we never put it on her car. I figured if she got pulled over, we'd just explain it.

Regarding the Cats, you are correct. The pre-cats are in front of the main Cats, closer to the manifold.

Art Ryan's Motorwerks did everything for me but the exhaust. He's on Tyrone Blvd. (727-384-0400). He's doesn't specialize in Corvettes but for the bolt on mods I've done, anyone with the tools and time pretty much can get it done. Art is very meticulous in his work. If you're considering similar mods, it should be a no-brainer for him. A-1 Exhaust put the Corsa System on. They were excellent and are on Seminole Blvd. in Largo. Lastly, Joe Cullen is the Corvette Specialist at Autoway Chevrolet on U.S. 19 in Clearwater. He is very knowledgeable and does not hesitate to work on modified cars. He will be putting in 36# fuel injectors this weekend and is working with me on programming. Initially I shied away from the dealership, but based on recent experience, I will be going back there more often. Particularly when I can clear up maintenance issues and mods in one trip. For example, he has offered to install a CAGS defeat mod to eliminate the 1-4 shift at low RPM. Hope this helps. If you're in the area, let's get together some time.

Yeah it's fun, and addictive, and expensive...
Nothing like it though at WOT!

Thanks for the information TSCook. I really haven't decided what I want to do to the Z06 yet. My husband was ready to make mods as soon as we got it home! I think the first thing will be the 1st to 4th change. Right now our focus in on running a 914 in SCCA races starting in February.
We are just north of you in Dunedin.

Let me know if I can help. If you get down to Largo, give me a call. Once you see my mods, it may make it easier to justify your own. :D

I see that you have the Baer brake system. How do you like the set up? I'm getting a lot of chatter from the stock brakes. Hate it.
