I just spoke to a dealer today about a 2002 Z-06. He told me there would not be any 2002 Z-06's and that the Z-06 was only going to be made for model year 2001. Id this true? I thought there would be a 2002 Z-06 with 405 hp. What is going on? If there is not going to be a 2002, then I will go get a 2001 this weekend, but if there is going to be a 2002 I will wait on those. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

That would go against 99% of the rumors we have heard so far.
Was that dealer trying to sell you a Z06?

Inside imformer in Bowling Green tells me that the HP will be 410 !!! New cam and intake tweaking not to mention a .50 increase in compression ratio is a done deal.Wheels will be the same. Coupes and verts may get TI EXHAUST!!! Will know for sure next week.New wheels similar to Camaro SS type. No HP gain. hope this helps.FUBU69/LES

I have no "official" inside info, but I have heard the same rumor from a usually well infrmed source. He said that the Z06 would be a 2001 model only followed by a 2002 "Supercar". The only downside is that the "Supercar" is supposed to cost quite a bit more.

So it looks like a "supercar" instead of a Z-06 is in the works for 2002? Any idea at all what the price range will be? Are we talking Viper range here or closer to 55-60K?

You know, dealers really don't know that much. They don't get any official advance information on new models until summer. They might get rumors or even generate them for all I know. The Z06 is both sold out and very profitable. If you were the Corvette Brand Manager would you kill it? Would you kill a goose that lays golden eggs? Most "dealers", which usually means some floor salesman who changes jobs every six months, are full of BS.

God I hope 2001 was the last year for the Z06, also I would find it very hard to believe that GM would take almost five years to come out with the LS6, then change to an LS7 the very next year, I say more HP on 2002 Z06 possible, LS7? no way .
