The July 16th issue of Autoweek Magazine reports that the 2002 Z06 does 0-60 in 3.9 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 12.4 seconds @ 116 mph!

The article also claims the car weighs in at 3,118 pounds, a dozen pounds less than the '01 Z06.

The article also states that Chevrolet claims it to be the "quickest production Vette ever."

Are those autoweeks numbers ( did they do their own tests) or are they GMs???? Those numbers have been around for A LONG time via GM.

Unfortunately, it sounds like GM quoted numbers. I think we'll have to read test reports from R&T and C&D to find out what it can do.

I am sure that they are GM numbers. The same thing happened last summer because I bought that August 2000 issue of "Automobile" and they restated the same numbers that GM was boasting about. There was no indication or statement that they did the acceleration tests themselves. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Good heads up. BTW I posted a week ago about the weight difference between the '01 and '02 and got hammered. Folks claimed the '01 weighs in at 3115. As for me, I'm with you. Here's the thread.

As best as I can tell those are "GM issued" performance numbers.
