There is preently a new 2002 silver/black Z06 on the lot fo sale at Dimmitt Chevrolet in Clearwater FL. I want to trade my 2001 in for it but I can't rationalize taking the trade in loss and paying taxes over again for 20 horsepower that I have probably already added with my intake bolt ons. I am already having to listen to people say "you know the 2002's are going to have 20 more horsepower." I really doubt there is a real world noticable difference in the performance of the 2001 and 2002 anyway. Even if I get a 2002, in about a year the talk of the upgraded and faster C7 will be out. I can never win, I'll just be happy with my beautiful yellow street monster. It hasn't even had an oil change yet. I will invest in 2 emblems from the 2002 though, just so only I will know that there is a slight difference.

Steve YellowZ06... your insticts ARE correct. You can go broke (or at least waste a whole lotta $$$) chasing the next, best, greatest "thing"... if you're COMFORTABLE doing that... fine, but (IMHO) if it causes you to always 2nd guess yourself... it ain't worth it.

BTW... my car is WAY overpowered /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif for what any sane person would NEED! ... so I am planning to go LPE 427 with it!! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif

...oh, and BTW JMHO... the new (405) emblems are not as "clean" a graphic as the originals. The shift of elements (letters & numbers) and the proportions just don't look as good ..again JMO!

Did you inquire about the cost to flip your '01? I was able to flip it for 5K and in this state you only pay tax on the difference between the trade in and the new one ( i.e. just 5K is taxed ).
The way I look at it, I just leased an '01 for $403/month since I got mine last September.

Am I missing something here? How is it that a 2002 Z is already on a lot in Florida? I thought that no vettes were shippped as of yet and shipments were awaiting the QC meeting on Wednesday. Can someone who is in the know clarify this. Steve, did you actually see the car? If not, I think that the dealer is either FOS or may be talking about an allocated Z.

I agree that picking up a 2002 right now is a waste of money on the 2001. I'm thinking about upgrading this time next year to a 2002 though. Hopefully history will repeat itself and they'll be available at $6,000 off MSRP. If they are, I'll have one.

I called and checked on this ZO6 and was told that it was a 2001 not a 2002. they had two of them one silve and one black (2001)

A $5000 trade difference would be pretty good, but not enough to get me to do it. I'm happy aas a clam right where I am for now. We'll see in a few years...

Invest the $5k diff in your motor--you'll then need a badge that reads '475HP';)
I know I am, and I know juuuust the place to have it done...
I drove ASASNS 500+HP Z06 this weekend--TWICE(couldn't get enough of it:), that was built by our friend Aaron Scott @ South Georgia Corvettes. He's also building the 368 for my ZR.
All I can say is WOW--the car is beastly w/ that much HP. With a head, cam & header package you can...FORGET 405 & HUD!!!
