Hi all I know this has been posted before and I apologize for this but I just have more couple of questions.

a friend of mine bought a 2007 z06 and he is looking for a tune so far haltech is what i've seen is good..

but is it the best tune ? I mean is it possible to get it through a handheld programmer like predator ?

and the weather in UAE goes to 40c+ sometimes 50c does this make a diffrence for the tune ?

i apologize again for asking same question.

thanks.

The Halltech tune is uploaded to the cars PCM via a laptop computer running a software application called LS2Edit. Halltech offers a package that comes with both LS2Edit and a tune designed for your car. You will need a computer to upload it using the supplied cable. It doesn't use a handheld tuner.

Handheld tuners, such as the Predator for example, come with a 'tune' already in them. In this case, you simply upload the tune to your cars computer. In addition, they often allow you to make your own changes to the cars computer/tune and the manufacturer can often write custom tunes for you as well. You then upload the custom tune to the car. However, they are usually limited in their functionality when compared to an application like LS2Edit as used in the Halltech package.

The main difference is Halltech's tune uses a laptop computer to upload a tune written for your car, whereas a handheld tuner is just that: a hardware device that already has a tune in it written for all cars like yours.

Short story.
I tuned a 2006 Z06 when the software first became avail. around march of 2006, got 22 rwhp and 13 rwt just out of the pcm.
A couple of months later my friend Jay Heath editor for Vette Mag brought in a gm loaner and I did not have my laptop but the shop I was tuning for had a copy of that tune.
He ran that tune up in the gm car and it actuly lost power.
Mr Hall is good but every car is diff. and I know he will more than agree on that.
The good thing about a Hall tune is he will work with you until it's right. But because you have bought the software and harware you can do it yourself if you knew how.
Buy HPtuners and I or a few others can lead you in the right direction.
Bottom line it's still air spark and fuel we just use a laptop instead of a timing light and a screwdriver.
