You are welcome to run the show if you like!! PLEASE
:drunken:

WinterFest has had the 'last weekend of Feb, 1st of March time frame.....'
Dates revolve around Pro Auto Sports' calendar.........

Firebird road racing as been the center point of the last two........

That will continue..........
BG has the WART, we have Firebird!!
I believe this one is better for this area!!

I have put together an outline of events.
This far out it's just ideas!!
Ken

Ok. February 27, 28, March 1st. That's 3 days. Do people arrive on the 26th? Depart 2nd?

I can help you out as much as possible Ken. Assign me some tasks.....

Who's driving in?

Who's flying in?

Will we stay in the same hotel as last year? If so, do we get the same rates (or better since we are returning?)

When do we start reservations? 45 days out? 30 days out?

Firebird: Will the races be on Saturday? Do we need to pre-register or "pay at the gate" like last year? Prices? (Don't seem like we got cut any discount for being a car club.....)

What is the plan for Friday evening? Will the "Pavillions" be going on in Scottsdale? Or is it GET DRUNK FRIDAY?

Just some ideas and such. Phoenix is YOUR 'HOOD so, when we hold Winterfest in Sierra Vista, I will gladly host it! Hahahahaha..... I'll even let you sleep on my couch.

Hopefully the Sierra Vista Corvette Club will show some participation this year. Will also get the word out to the ACE group in Phoenix. We have plenty of enthusiasts around.....hopefully we have a bigger turn out.

I am interested - I just started at a new job but might be able to make it. Is this still "The More The Merrier"? I've a few non-Z Corvette friends that would like to attend. They certainly drive like they have Zs!

Hey Sean,,,,where ya been? Hope the clutch is working out OK! "The more the merrier" is the order of the day as far as Winterfest is concerned! Keep monitoring this thread and I'm sure Ken will post up info as to date and location sooner or later. Just try to keep the last weekend in Feb open.

Been busy - Bought Mountain View Garage in Thornton - 20 bay, 10,600' garage with eight 9K lbs lifts. Hosted a big run from here with free, hot omelets from Ambrusci's and free Espresso/Coffee/Smoothies from another local vendor. Check out the "Blue Mystery Run" over at CF.

Clutch is working great - Thank you. Now the diff is whining. I'll keep watching this thread as I am sorry I missed last year. Firebird was absolutely the best time ever and I'm STILL telling people about it!

Update: I just checked the Pro Auto Sports racing schedule for 2009 and it's either Feb 13 (Friday) or Mar 13 (Friday). Both dates are for the East Track Gate 1.

Previous Winterfest had Dyno on Thursday, Firebird track on Friday and Speedworld Drag Strip on Saturday.

Feb 21st is Club Day at Speedworld. Welcome To SpeedWorld Drag Strip That's the only Club Day in Feb or March. We don't have to go on a club day but I don't think they'll allow you to set up your own venue (like bracket racing) while there's another scheduled event going on. But it might be worth asking. If there is an event, track prep will probably be pretty good.

ProAutosports Welcome to ProAutosports! events only require that you register a few days in advance, but you have to have their license and I think the cost is about $140 for new members and $40 to renew. I don't think they've ever turned anyone away. We were out there a couple weeks ago for their 2008 customer appreciation day and the field was full, but they still ran everyone who wanted to go.

Ken, are you still organizing this or do you have other things pressing this year? Several of us have offered to help. Let us know wassup. I'm willing to step up and do whatever it takes. I was laid off two months ago and I have plenty of time. :csmile:

Steve, I know that the past 2 Winterfests had drag racing w/the Scottsdale Exotic Car Club (SECC). Since there is no WART here in Arizona, Firebird Raceway was the next alternative, and that was what anchored the Fest, that and Thursday/Friday night dinner at the Rustler's Roost where we see special people.

Tom, all we have to do is register our group on a club day and they will host bracket racing for us... pro trees if we want. I think that would be a good idea. I just spoke with Victoria at Speedworld and explained that we may want them to host a bracket racing event sometime in Feb or March, but we don't know a date and could they accommodate us also in the event another event is already running. She said to email her when we figure out a date and she'll try and work with us.

Yeah, what Tom said. It would be no problem to set up a block of rooms at the Hotel. I think Ken has already lain the ground work for that. We just need to settle on some dates and get this rolling so people have time to plan.

I can put together a cruise for Thursday (maybe not as cool as the WART tour) if there is interest, and we can see some Arizona sites. There's lots to do and see... the Grand Canyon, old gold mine tours, ghost towns, jeep tours into the desert, Casinos with shows, Yarnell Hill twisties (the locals know about Yarnell Hill), river boat dinner cruises, PIR (that's Hwy 89, or Pason International Raceway as the locals call it) :sneaky:

For those who don't wish to drag race, the world's largest on-going car show is held in Scottsdale every Saturday. The second Saturday of the month is Corvette Saturday and there will be a hundred or so Vettes, along with just about any other kind of custom car you might want to see. You name it, we have it.

Should we start a poll to gauge interest?
