Scene was Capitol Raceway in Crofton, MD, Friday, August 13th. Density altitude was 2150'.

Three Z06s were running.

#1 mine stock except for Halltech Tric. Did 7 runs. Average was 12.53. Best was 12.48. Speeds were is the high 114s/ low 115s.

#2 a white bone stock with 500 miles on it, driven by by a longtime drag racer in his first time running this car. His times ranged from 12.8 to a best of 12.52 at 115+.

#3 a black stock with couple thousand miles (may have had a cut air box and a K&N filter), driven by a guy who traded in his Viper for it. His times ranged from 12.9 to a best of 12.58.

Viper was an black RT/10 from MA belonging to a young guy taking summer classes in the DC area. His times were mainly in the 12.6s but did pull off one in the high 12.3s. I didn't get his mph.

I don't draw any conclusions from this except that I would love to have been in the next lane when that Viper ran one of his 12.6s.

As it were, the black Z06 was beside the Viper when the Viper pulled the high 12.3s and that Z06 did 12.58. Difference was about two car lengths.

As many have said before. The outcome depends a lot on the driver.

I have a 1994 RT10 with 6,000 miles on it. All I did was put a 3 inch exhaust with not cats on it and it runs high 11s and puts out 420hp at the rear wheels.
I can't wait for my 2002 z06 to come in! It will look sharp parked next to my RT10

Capitol Raceway's web site is http://www.capitolraceway.com

It's in Crofton, MD just off Route 3. Test and Tune is on Fridays. Gates open at 5pm. First runs last Friday were at 530pm and there were about 12 Corvettes running, including the three Z06s.

I suspect we'll get a group together in August if the weather cooperates.

Would love to have you join us. Trying to induce JerryL to bring out his forthcoming EB 02 Z06 too.

I think Ranger just proved it right here that the 12.6 sec 1/4 mile number from GM is not an exaggeration. I think the 4.0 sec 0-60 is kind of hard to prove though. You probably have to be perfect to get that kind of number.

That's awsome to know that a daily driving car can pull that kind of time on a 1/4 mile.

I totally agree. I love to race. I have to get some practice and why not with Z06/vette owners. I had a GTA before and use to beat cars that were faster, but the drivers couldnt drive. I gotta make sure that does happen to me. LOL /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
