427 Block

914 Views 7 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  VPRKLLR
Just saw a new West Coast Corvette Catalogue and noticed they had the 427 cu in Aluminum bare small block listed at $6,800.00.

God I'd like to see this offered as a 50th anniversery production option. Does ZL1 ring a bell??!!

Imagine your gas mileage after this mod is done to a ZO6. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif

I would rather go with temporary or on-demand HP instead of HP that is constantly being wasted throughout the rev-band.

Gas mileage will probably not be that bad, I have a 427 block that will start being put together in the next few weeks, if all goes well it will be installed around Christmas. The clutch will be the biggest problem holding 600 RWHP, of course there will be other problems once installed keeping other parts together. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Hey Carl,

Have you ever thought of buying a rebuildable Corvette, like on that was involved in an accident but not totaled, so that you could install the engine in that.

I have seen a few rebuildable Corvette's that seemed like they were being given away. I even saw a 98' Cobra for about $5K, it didn't have an interior; the engine was new and so was the body. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Just a thought though. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif

July C&D has an article on Lingenfelter's 427 build up.
VPRKLLR, I have a great price on a white Z06 brand new that I am thinking about, but I believe I will use the 02' Electron blue one for the 427, maybe not a smart move but I never said I was smart either. It is funny because probably 30 people have looked at my 2000 convertible that is for sale with 3000 miles on it, the problem is no one has the money to buy my car, many wanted to trade me but no thanks, and with dealers having so many 01's on their lots and giving 5k off it's tough to sell these cars right now. I was going to Caravaggio to cut the top off my Z06 but at this time I will be keeping it a hardtop and using it as my daily driver, that was not the plan but no sense in having 2 convertibles, so I will keep my 2000 and just sell another 5.9 Grand Cherokee. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I believe that everyone that owns a ZO6 or plans on buying one, we should all be considered as SMART for owning this car. It smokes the competition and everyone will be taking a SHIT in their pants when that badass 427 blows right by them. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif

Another thing, don't go racing any Lamborghini's on the street, if you do, that's when you'll be considered as not being smart. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
