Just returned from a short drive in my Z, and as always reflected on how great a car it is! Each time I drive it all of life's daily tensions, problems, etc. just fade away!

A sincere THANK YOU to everyone at Chevrolet for bringing this car to the world!

BTW, I have owned 3 new C5's and no serious problems with any of them!

Zippy,

I have to agree!! Every time I drive my Z I get excited!!

I've had 5 C5s, and I was about ready to chuck Corvette for a Ford Explorer. I was just burned out after 25 years of Vette ownership. BUT, after the Z06 was introduced...I feel 18 years old again!! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif If only evrything worked like I was 18. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_frown.gif

I've never enjoyed driving a Vette so much!! I absolutely love this car!! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif I can't thank the Corvette team enough for bringing me the Vette of my dreams. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif Grinning everytime I drive it!! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Are these good times or what?!?! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif

For all of us who have never even sat in a Z06 let alone driven one or owned one...

For all of us who are hoping for that sequence number so we can go see our baby built...

You guys are cruel!!!! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Steve:

LMAO! Matter of fact, I used to work for GM and had a chunk of my 401(K) in GM common. That was prior to 1987, after which GM sold Detroit Diesel Corp (my employer) to Roger Penske. Last October Roger sold all outstanding shares of DDC to Daimler Chrysler!

I have always been fascinated by people who want to thank GM. IMHO, they don't deserve anything. They do market research, develop a product which hopefully people will buy and charge accordingly. Then down the line we are aggrevated to death at the dealer level.
If a person is happy with the product (which I am), fine. To thank them is ridiculous. They didn't develop this product out of the goodness of their hearts. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I own a Z06. I have driven every damn vette you can think of including the ZR1 (owned it). This has nothing to do with the past, as I am told by GM that I own the fastest vette to date. Why do you persist in thanking a company that doesn't give two shits about you? MONEY, IMA, MONEY that's what GM is about. As I said, if you like the product fine. NO thanks is needed. Incidentially, it is dangerous to make assumptions

Well... then I guess I'm "thankful" that they love money so much. I have enjoyed what I got for my $$ with the Z06. I didn't have as much "fun" with my money when I had their '89, or even the L-48 '73. If I got 8 years out of the '89, I sure as hell will get a lot more outta the Shark!

I am not so much in a thank you GM mode as I am happy to be living in a country where we have a level of freedom to not have to dress alike, think alike, drive the same vehicles, etc. One of my graduate students is from Kuwait where it is considered inappropriate for men to own a sports car past the age of 30.

The court of public opinion in the US speaks rarely but effectively. GM, at one point, incorrectly said Americans would always drive big cars and Japan kicked their butts for a few years. Power plants said Americans would want to have a nuclear reactor outside of town and we said no (but guess what is back again?). How many blackouts before we change our minds?

All I expect is that people and corporations will honor their commitments. If it is my fault I will take responsibility. If it is not, they should do their part. My only complaint is that they dangle 15 hp improvements and new tail light lenses in front of me and I still can't help but succomb to the bait every so often.
