I'm about to some cash, and I thought I'd run it by here first - cuz I know if this is stupid, I'll hear it here!!! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I need to get some sticky tires for autocross, so here's my plan:

Order a set of chrome Z06 replica's for about $1250.. Seen here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=593177925&r=0&t=0

These will be my daily drivers, because I've heard these weigh a bit more than the stock wheels. (Anyone have pics of their car with these on it???)

For the tires,

Hoosier P305/30ZR-18's on the back (A3S03), and P275/40ZR-17's on the front (A3S03)..

Would this be an okay setup?

Figure after this, I have about $800 to spend on vinyl work.. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif Time to pull up Photoshop.

Because of the chrome, total added weight of all 4 wheels is about 2 1/2 lbs. for OEM wheels. I hear the repos are a considerable heavier, but don't quote me on that one because I have no experience in the repos.

Sounds like you have a pretty good plan!! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_cool.gif

Eat one less cheesburger each week for the rest of the summer, or leave your gas tank with about one third less gallon of gas than normal, and you will have made up the weight gain from the wheels. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

The seller says there is a warranty, but is he legit? He has no negative feedback with 500 + sales. I would still do an escrow for that kind of cash on eBay.

DJWorm ---

THANKS! Email has been sent. Hopefully you get some referral bonus or something. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif

I may take the trip to nationals.. Not really in hopes of competing with the best in the nation, but just the experience and the chance to get some tips from the best.. Hopefully I'll see some of you there!

DJ,

Yea - he sure is! I talked to him for quite a while today.. Got my tires ordered.. I guess the next thing is to lower this beast and take 'er to a good alignment shop.

Thanks again for the recommendation!!!
