I lowered my Z saturday and was told now I need to realign it. What negative camber settings are you guys using on the street and still compete at autocrossing? I ran the threads on the rear bolts to the end and got about 3/4" lower. Was told that this is no good and I need to buy the longer bolts like we did on the C4 cars.
And how are you posting pics on your signatures? I have some from an event I wanna post. Thanks BRIAN

I've got 10,000 miles on my lowering without alignment. There is NO abnormal tire wear.

Thanks for the info guys... did you all use the factory bolts in the rear or did you buy the longer ones? I will say I ran the car on the street tires and it had major understeer; which the tape said you would get if you lowered it too much. But when I put the KUHMOS on, it tracked like on rails, and the acceleration was like I boosted it with nitrous!

Hi there,
Always align the vehicle, any time any supension setting is changed, this included ride height of the vehicle.

Thanks DOC... what would you recommend for the street and for the track? The tape says up to 2.5 negative in front & 1 in rear. Are the factory bolts ok to run to the tip of the threads? DO you think my understeering could be casued by it being too low? I have seen lots lower! BRIAN

Leave at least 2 threads showing above the nut and I wouldn't lower more than the factory bolts allow without changing shocks. As far as aligning after lowering, I have lowered all 3 C5s I've and the only--ONLY alignment change is some additional neg. camber which is generally what you want. For a street going autox car, I wouldn't do over -1.5 degree front and -1.0 degrees rear.

thanks Z06 addict. Would I have that understeer if it was too negative? How far did you run the pogo stick onthe front spring?

I did not run the front bolts all the way down. I left a little, maybe 15% from the bottom so that I maintain adequate suspension travel for the road courses I run. As far as understeer, if your car is pushing, it probably needs a little more neg. camber in the front. Of course, they all understeer in slow autox type situations. On a road course, they should feel pretty neutral.

Addict..I would agree that they all understeer on street tires cept that there was another Z06 there-not lowered, and driven by a guy with less experience. I felt I should've beat him yet his times were .5 sec faster. I attributed that to my understeering condition. When I put the kuhmos on I knocked off 3 secs with no understeer. Guess I am asking if I am a bit too low- on the front bolts, how much thread is sticking out; or how close to the spring is the bumper? I have the 2 threads or so in the rear now. thanks!~ brian

Racingfast, what tire pressure did you have in the front when the car was pushing? I run about 30 psi cold when low speed autoxing and about 37 psi cold for high speed road courses on the stock Eagle F1 SCs.

Addict... I was at 34 all around. I had no clue as to pressures with those tires. And I only got 3 runs so I couldnt change pressure that much as thunderstorms were a comin in. I wanted to swap over to the Kuhmos and got 3 more runs in and then I was changing back to the streets in a thundershower!
