How's the Z06 alignment treating your tires? I'm mostly concerned with the inside edges of the fronts due to the aggressive camber settings. I went with the Z's specs when I put new tires on. I burned 1/32 through regular driving, with the inside going at a faster clip. Then I did about 250 miles on a road coarse, and that 1/32 came off pretty even. I guess I'm pointing this to the non-track guys asking how the wear pattern is developing on your tires.
I have about 5800 miles on my Z...........two track days........with a little over 100 miles each day at the track /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
Tire wear is preety even.............
maybe half life left...../phpBB/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif
Even wear all around!! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
Gerry, you trying to find an advantage?? Getting worried the closer we get to the Cruise-In?? Don't worry, Buddy...I'll be gentle on you. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
Oops, I forgot, Sherylann said I can't race at BG!! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif
Hi there,
First difference is the tire compound, as it is alot softer, and you will probably wear mariginally faster on the inside corner as state. Just remember that when GM first went through this, they knew that they would have a tire issue, given the alignment specs of the car.
They seem to have chosen a tire that will give respectable wear, with the agressive specs noted for great handling.
The EMTs are a different compound, and as long as the alignment is checked once a year, they will go 40k. I would expect about 25k out of the ZO6 tires depending on alignment checks, and balancing.
Best to all, c4c5
