Just saw this on page 6 of the Summer 2001 Corvette Quarterly:
"The honors keep piling up for the Corvete Z06. After debuting last year to overwhelming praise from the media, the Corvette performance flagship garnered more accolades recently from the national automotive press.
The editors of Automobile magazine named the Z06 the publications 2001 Automobile of the Year.
Jean Jennings, editor in chief of Automobile, presented the award to Ronald Zarella, president of GM North America.
"The Corvette Z06 is a real, 100 percent, no-excuses, no-explanation, no-footnotes American sports car (HELL YA!!!!! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif), one capable of holding its own with just about anything on the road, at a price no other car company in the world can approach," said Jennings. "How can the Z06 not be our 2001 Automobile of the Year?"
"That's high praise coming from a publication as respected as Automobile magazine." said Zarella. "Their editors have come to appreciate the the new Z06 is very simply the quickest, best-handling Corvette ever and sets new standards in every part of the high-=performance spectrum."
HarleyB - Good point about the 01's. I have no regrets about getting one - it's such a huge step above what I had, I couldn't possibly be happier! They're better than what I expected.
