My rear window is tinted as dark as possible. I have the electrochromatic which are useless in the daytime. The tinting eliminates the need to adjust the rear mirror for headlight shine. It does look pretty mean looking. I have too much glare on the pictures on my web page for you to get a good idea of what the window actually looks like.

Be sure if you have it done to have them sand off the dots at the top of the window with fine steel wool.

In Michgan you can only tint your rear window, and the rear seat windows.

In Florida, Darth Vetter would have been pulled over quite a few times.

I am thinking of probably tinting either really dark, like Darth's, or red, to match the exterior of the car. The red that my shop has is really good, but, I don't know yet. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_confused.gif

I had the windows tinted today. Got the heat relief I was looking for. Went with a non-metallic 20%. Looks darker because of the black interior.

Note the lettering on the back too. Coming together. Let's see here... polished wheels, brake rotors, hood,...

Looks nice Zoomin'... /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_cool.gif

I am looking for some heat relief too.

Did they sand the dots with fine steel wool as suggested?

Curious since I will be picking my Z up in about 11 days

Yes Agent - I was all over them about that. I interviewed 4 places until I found one that didn't look at me like I had a 3rd eye. Thanks for the tip! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Chris, if I had a QS car, I'd consider the 20% metallic film which has kind of a mirror effect, which would look killer on silver. It will cost about $80 more though. I wanted a smoke look on the black so the paint would be the star.

What are you guys talking about with the sanding? I'm going to have my windows done and want to make sure it's done right.
Thanks,

Tom, check the inside top 2" of your rear window. You'll see and feel all these dots about the size of a pencil eraser. They feel like felt - anyway, they aren't the greatest surface to adhere to and since they're raised you'll have air gaps where the film can't make contact with the glass.

rear window tint

If you get the rear window tinted, it does not stick to the 'dots' very well. I took the advice of taping off the tint, and spraying that area with flat black Krylon. It looks awesome from the outside and inside. If you didnt' know you could not tell by looking at it. Email me if you want a pic of it.
