Seems I have to add a quart every 1200-1500 miles on both Z's. I'm not too concerned yet. I figure the engine is just set up a little looser. These are the first Vettes I have ever had that use oil, however.
Anyone else using oil??

Not that I can tell; just did the first change at a little over 1K miles so I can watch consumption closer now (if we ever get the roads clear enough to drive it!)

If I remember correctly from my '99 it used a quart or so in the first thousand miles and then settled down to using very little after that.

I have a feeling that this is a norm for the Z06. I'm hoping we get more input on this. My wife is really concerned about it on hers, but I keep telling her its a hi-po engine and it should be expected. We both drive pretty hard too.

jwright, I hear ya man!! Sure wish the streets would clear. COME ON SPRING!!!

I had the 7 quart thing when I first changed the oil after 1700 miles. Even waited a day before adding the extra 1/2 quart. Dick Criss and I compared dip stick PN#s and everything to make sure I had the correct stick.
I may have been down a little by the time I changed it, but do not know exactly how much.

1 Quart ever 1300 to 1500 miles.

I add oil when the low oil level light comes on. This comes on at 1 quart low.

I don't know yet if I'm using any oil and probably won't for a while. I did my first oil change at 500 miles and will do another at 1500, then again at 3000. After that it will be every 5000 miles. So I probably won't know until I hit about 5000 miles, which should take another 8 - 10 months. Man, I need to drive this thing more.

Changed the oil at 500 miles... dip stick was showing full.

Almost 700 on the odometer, taking friends on test drives (now that I can show them what it feels to be pressed back into the bucket seats
) and haven't loss any oil yet.

I think many are in the same boat that they havent racked up enuff miles yet to say but time will tell if mine exhibits the same thing as some of you out there.

I was on a clip of 1 qt. every 700mi. That was when I had the bad oil pump and the "Low Oil Pressure/0 PSI" DIC messages.

Since the fix, consumption appears to have tapered off. I will keep you posted.

PS: The dealers have all said the Z06 will burn some oil upon spirited driving.

Just at 1200 mi on mine. Hard to tell based on the difficult to read dip stick...looks like it could be almost a quart low. No DIC warning as of yet. I'm going to try and get it to the dealer for an oil change asap
