Fastest Street Corvette in the West
Time Trials & King of the Hill
Bracket Racing Championship

Do you have a fast car? Are you a Street Outlaw? We’re looking for the fastest street Corvette in the West. If you think you have what it takes, you need to be at Sturgis Dragway on Saturday, July 16th, for the Black Hills Corvette Classic’s Fastest Street Corvette in the West and King of the Hill Championship.

Arrive early for the Fastest Street Corvette in the West time trials. Driver’s meeting at 8:30 am, and time trials begin at 9:00 and run to 11:00 am. Everyone is welcome to run – men and women, first-time drivers, experienced racers, and all generations of Corvettes. If you have been waiting all year to show your buddy your tail lights, this is your chance for unlimited grudge matches. Maybe you just want to see how fast your car is – arrive early, make a few runs, and then enjoy the rest of your day. For those of you who just want to burn some rubber – this day is for you! Awards will be given for Best Reaction Time, Lowest ET, and Highest Trap Speed at Saturday’s banquet.

Right after the Fastest Street Corvette in the West, we will have a Launch Control demonstration presented by the Ron Fellows Corvette Driving School. This is standard equipment on many late-model Corvettes. It is an amazing system that will surprise many.

Serious racers will want to stay for the King of the Hill Championship, starting at 11:30 am. The champion will be crowned in a bracket racing shoot-out, so everyone has a chance to win. Keep track of your time slips from the Fastest Street Corvette in the West time trials to choose your dial-in. This will be posted on your driver’s window. Maybe your 1978 Pace Car consistently runs 9.5-second runs. This doesn’t mean that the 2016 Z06 that runs 7.5 seconds will beat you. The timing lights are adjusted at the starting line so that your car will leave 2 seconds before that Z06. This ensures a very, very close race at the finish line. Don’t worry; we will have people to assist you in choosing your dial-in time. We will run all the men to determine the Men’s Champion and all of the women to determine the Women’s Champion. Then for the final race the Men’s Champion will face the Women’s Champion to determine the Overall King of the Hill Champion. The outcome may surprise you – for the past several years we have had a female King of the Hill Champion. Spectators, you won’t want to miss this event! Awards will be given for King of the Hill Men’s Champion, King of the Hill Women’s Champion, and the Overall King of the Hill Champion at Saturday’s banquet.

One Lap of Spearfishurburgring
& Battle of the Pros Autocross

Do you like to go fast? Do you like to go really fast? Do you have what it takes to run with the Big Boys? If so, you won’t want to miss the One Lap of Spearfishurburgring Autocross Event on Friday, July 15th.

This is a chance to test your skills against the clock and other competitors in a safe parking lot autocross. This is not the typical "field of cones" maze set up for only the most experienced drivers. Instead, it is a very simple road course design set up for maximum fun by some of the most experienced racers in the country. We make it simple and fun for everyone.
A mandatory driver's meeting will begin at 8:30 am, and the 1st run group begins immediately thereafter. Arrive early to walk the course and help us set up. Run groups will be determined at the driver's meeting. Each driver will receive a minimum of 3 runs within their run group. Each car will be classed by car generation C1 – C7, men’s and women’s divisions. There will be additional classes for 1st time novice men’s and women’s drivers.
If you have always thought of trying an Autocross, this is the place to be. We have several experienced drivers who are always willing to help, including drivers from the Ron Fellows Corvette Driving School. These drivers will lead off each run group to set a benchmark time to beat. At the end of the event we will have the Battle of the Pros to see who is best. Any driver who is able to beat our Pros benchmark time will be invited to race in the Battle of the Pros. You will definitely want to see this battle. Spectators are welcome to enjoy the competition and cheer on their favorite driver. Awards will be given for the men’s and women’s respective C1-7 class and novice winners, fastest man and woman, overall fastest time of the day, and Battle of the Pros winner at Saturday’s banquet.

NOTE: We will try to allow each participant 4 runs.
Battle of the Pros Rules: Any entrant who is able to beat our Pros benchmark time will be allowed to enter the Battle of the Pros. Each entrant in the Battle of the Pros will perform two sets of consecutive back-to-back runs with a break between each set. Each entrant will receive a total of 4 runs (2 sets of back-to-back runs). Each run will be individually scored. Best time will be declared the Battle of the Pros Winner.
