Hey all,

Just got to thinking about the new Z06. It's about the same weight as the C5 Z06, but a lot has changed. Battery moved to back, carbon fiber body parts up front, aluminum and magnesium frame parts. But there's more oil and the dry sump. And the wheelbase is longer than the C5. Any thoughts on weight distribution? 50/50, or maybe even a little rear-biased???

According to Dave Hill at the April National Corvette Museum/Registry Birthday Bash, the 2006 Z06 has a 49.3%/50.7 %front to rear weight bias without a driver, which changes to a 49.7% front, 50.3% rear weight bias with a 180 pound driver in it.

With an aluminum frame and a magnesium engine cradle you would think it would weight less. Or am I full of it? Maybe with the dry sump system and more oil. Seems like a lot of weight. Not that the current Z is a stone, it's not.
