Second time this has happened in three weeks :-? Turned right, there's a little dip for the left front wheel, the engine check light comes on! Nothing on the dic. Pulled up the codes. PCM-1441HC evaporative emissions purged. Had 2282,2283,2284,2285, all H codes, all battery circuits. checked battery, everything ok. Also pulled a 2252H code. Car drove normally, idled normally, all gauges read normal. Kind of weird. has this happened to anybody else?

I had the light come on twice in two weeks.
First time the dealer traced the code to something in the fuel system. They said the gas cap wasn't tight enough. I said bull. I checked that.
Second time they replaced the purge valve. Said it was sticking under acceleration - exactly when the light came on the first time - under acceleration.

Simple warranty item. I was in and out in half a day.

There are hundreds of codes

that can trip the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) on the DIC.

Best bet is to take it to the dealer, before you do anything else.

HI there,
P1441, is an evaporative purge code, which is directly related to a solenoid not closing when it should. Your evap purge control solenoid might be stuck open, and this would set this code.
It is located under the driver side fuel rail cover, and my guess is that they will replace this.

I understand your concern. I have had the check engine light come on three times in the last 700 miles. It always comes on between 1600 and 1900 rpm under part throttle. My 02 has 3000 miles on it and I am hesitant to take it to the dealer for the usual reasons. I have played around with three different intakes only and have yet made no other modifications. I have checked all connections and have tried resetting the pcm.... without positive results. Please let me know if any rvelations are stumbled upon.

Thanks,

Jason

Well went to the dealer and they checked the gas cap first. Then when I told them it was code 1441, they checked the pcm history and didn't find any codes :-? But they then changed the purge valve. Took 3 minutes. C4c5specialist was dead on! Thank you :yeadog: While I was there, the head vette mechanic and I started talking about intakes. He said the 2002 hadn't changed from the 2001. He brought a complete 2001 airbox out and I showed him he changed the air intake on a 2001. He said the boss wanted to throw these type of parts out, so he gave me the airbox! I kinda like my dealer!!! Now I'm experimenting with a k&n filter and cut out some large holes in my new airbox cover! I'm just wondering how this will affect it?

Hi Mike,

I think if you get a K&N filter, then cut the housing out some it will work good. at least for the money spent not bad.

It will be nice to know just how it will effect the way the car runs... should inprove the 1/4 times.

Oh BTW I was on my way home Saturday from the Maryland House and guess what, the Damn car threw another code at me. PO410.... thats the first time since I had the coil and cats replaced.. wondering if it was because I didn't run it hard on the way back.

Ya going Saturday the 15th???

I can't go, people coming in town.......S---

The 0410 code

only occurs when your 1" tube from the filter to the airpump is crimped. Similar to a garden hose crimping and shutting off the water flow.

Hi Jim,

Thanks I'll take a look at that, the Dealer has not been able to find it. It does not happen all the time but enough to give me fits.

The way the tube runs on the bottom feeder baack is a pain, and I might not have installed it the proper way.

Thanks again,
Ernie

Hi Ernie!

Yeah, not bad mods for money spent :D 50 bucks for k&n and a free airbox. HeHeHe Can't go sat. Family in town also. Ok, it's choir practice from 10-1 :eek2: what can I say? If capital is open due to nice weather, I might stray over there. Steve-12.2 and John-11.94  There must be some kind of traction over there :D :D

Hi Mike,

I talked to Steve he said there was not very many people at the track, I guess with that, a lot of water was not put on the line. You know how just about anything runs over there.

It was also very cool as well.. Yes, they had some GREAT runs, very happy for them... just wish i could have gone...:-(...

In the post above yours I had asked about the PO410 code, Jim said to check the hose from the intake back, I did and nothing it is ok, so I'll just have to look else where..

These darn cars are nuts sometimes, codes just pop up. Can't understand it, I have had just about had everything replaced in that car, all the o2 sensors, the sensors under the intake, smog pump, and check valves. It's either PO410 or P 1416, also all 4 cats have been replaced..

Oh well another day.....

Take care, maybe we can get out soon....

P0410

Hi there,
As for the P0410, this is for an non functioning air injection system, as Jim has stated.
However, there is not a major issue with this, unless you are using sims in the front o2 sensors locations. They will not react to the induced air, and set the code.
As for diagnosis, this is basic, as they will command on the air pump, and the resultant change in the o2 sensor signals to the PCM.
I am surprized that your service tech cannot find the condition.
Not a big deal, as this system will only help cold start emissions, and not affect drivability of the car.

C4C5,

I looked as Jim said about the hose, found nothing. I have the stock o2's and the 4 cats. All Stock. The car runs fine no problems. Just the light comes on...

I had the air pump replaced some time ago, along with all the sensors both o2's and the ones under the intake, along with the check valves. I can't understand why this keeps coming up.

It's not a problem just a pain, I just reset and clear the code and go on.

Thanks for all the info, I guess some day it will just go away. LOL

Have a great week,

Ernie

Hi Ernie,
Honestly, I think someone is just shotgunning parts, as the 02 sensors???????????
I would suggest you request further information, as the system is quite simple, and really.
If you would like to take a swipe at it, let me know, and we can work it.

C4C5,

Thanks, you might be right.. I don't think i'll be able to get it back to the Dealer soon, because of the Holidays. What tools do you think I would need to work on it?

It's not a problem since I don't drive it much with all the rain we are having.

Let me know what you think....
