Getting closer to finishing my website with a forum. No sponsors, funded by me alone and just a place for motorheads to talk. Everyone can express their views and nothing will be removed, except for vulgarity, porn etc.

Don't we already have that here?

And all of the above is easy to say, hell, we made the mistake too......

But people will be people, and if you site explodes like this one did, I doubt you will foot the $600+ a month bills alone......anyone to do so would be either insane or VERY rich........

Yes, you do have the same here. I am not trying to compare, just giving a synopsis of what the site will be like. Also, I post on many forums, not just here. Loyalty is fine, but why limit yourself? As far as my posting this before, you're right, but it was removed, and I don't know why.

A while back, I emailed the admin requesting the abllility to post a link for discounts for members, thats what my discount post was all about, however, I was told it wouldn't be fair to the sponsors here. I perfectly understand that. But my wife and I have been working on my own site and will post the discount link there.

As far as affording to have my own website, I am very aware of the costs involved and thank God, I can afford my few big and little enjoyments in life.

My intention is not to take away from this website, but if I have something to offer to others, it may be unique and different from what is here, and its what the world wide web is all about. I would even like to post a link from my site to yours if you approve. Seems everyone gets uptight if someone goes to another forum. I don't get it. Am I really missing something here?:-?

I have also noticed, exluding this forum, that many forums I have been on, are not really administered by people with a lot of hands on experience. Some of them just start a forum and are in a totally different line of business, other than automobiles, and start the site more for profit. I may be wrong about that, but I'm not in it for profit, or worrying about my sponsors, so right there the site is different.

I understand what you are saying though, about idealistic expectations not turning out the way you want, however, I could afford to take the loss, so why not give it a try.

My site will be totally different than yours, so why not become neighbors, and benefit each other. It may even show more profits for you. It's not costing YOU anything, and it may give your sponsors a chance to give a better discount and stimulate your board more.

All you guys here are great people and I just wanted to invite you to check my site out. I hope it doesn't stress our relationship, because I still would like to post here, even though I will have my own site.

Regards,
FatherLarry

I think you mistook what I said.

I have no problem with allowing your posts to your site. Indeed, check out our links section, we'll put you in there too.

We welcome your addition to the community!

My point more or less was why make everyone travel all over when you already have an audience here, that's all.

But, if you feel that this is not the proper venue for your discussion, cool, there is no hard feelings.

Good luck on your venture.

I am retired, and personally love traveling all over the place

Well, thank you. And, it just reinforces how well this site is administrated. Don't forget, a country is only as good as it is governed. I hope you will be able to say the same about mine, and please feel free to make any suggestions that may help me. I will always have an open ear and never take offense to it. Life is too short. Thanks again.....FatherLarry PS. On the negative side, my site may be a big flop, and then you're stuck with me here everyday.
