How about having them polished and cleared?
That way one is not adding weight to a lightweight on purpose car. It would be similar to the QF5's as opposed to painted wheels.

Any recommendations as to shops that do this?

I think its a viable alternative..at around a hundred a wheel..high polished and clearcoated with a lifetime guarantee..

Thats a choice I would probably do if I had the ZO6..

Something about the metals properties changing during chroming process..the flaking issue..and double cost?

I have no personal experience with this..but the logic seems solid for the high polish and clearcoated version..

You could road race the thing without concern..

Save the wave.

PS..Frank..the chrome is awesome as well..just an alternative idea..

If I had it to do all over again, I believe I would do the high polished route. They would be easier to care for.

Just for peoples information, chrome adds less than 3 lbs. total weight for all four wheels.

Stock Front Z06 wheels.......19.65 lbs./ea

Chromed Front Z06 wheels.....20.4 lbs./ea

Stock Rear Z06 wheels........21.4 lbs./ea

Chromed Rear Z06 wheels......22.1 lbs./ea

Anybody know of a good source for polishing and durable clear-coating in the LA/Orange Co. area?
That way I would not have to be concerned if I got my Z06 on previously salted roads. And yes, I might visit the occasional ski resort.

just got mine from Corvette Mike's today. They look mint.Ask for Matt he is very professional. They will send you the chrome wheels & then you send them your originals after. It's a night & day difference going to the chrome wheels. No problems with the balance iether, I had the rims checked for balance before I mounted the tires on them. I will be posting a picture soon.
