Congratulations to Team Corvette on their 1-2 finish in GTS class at Le Man. What an incredible accomplishment to win both the 24 at Daytona and now Le Man. Thanks also to Speedvision for their wonderful wire to wire coverage of this event. I thought they did a nice job commenting on the great support us Corvette guys give our race team. What a victory! C5 owners everywhere should be proud! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

I know it's a sweet victory and all, but it bothers me that they didn't make an effort to finish in the top 5 overall. By pulling both cars out at a crucial time, they let the GT class Porsches get ahead! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_frown.gif Had the Saleens been more of a threat till the end we might've seen a top 5 finish for the 63 Vette. Oh well..

I'm having trouble too. I went to the Official French 24 Heurs Du Mans site, and it looked like 2 Vipers came in before the 2 Vettes. WTF. I was gone all day.

JMHO, they did the right thing by pulling the Vettes off. Who cares where they finish over all. Why risk a chance of spinning a car out when you have such a huge lead?? One of the Vettes had a bad starter. If they had spun out in the deplorable conditions, they wouldn't have been able to restart the car and thus would have lost. I'm happy with a 1-2 finish in their class.

Guys, I'm thrilled no less than any of you that the Vettes handily topped the GTS class. I just feel that the prestige of finishing in the top 5 (no GTS car has done it before at Le Mans) may have been worth the risk of leaving the 63 car in the field (64 could've been pulled out just to ensure a backup for the title in case 63 had major problems). In any case, both teams did us very proud and have firmly established the Corvette as a world class race car and that's what matters! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_cool.gif

The Vipers are no longer Viper GTS, they are a Chrysler Prototype. I think they run against the Big guys. Even have the same team driving them, Orecka (Sp)

There were Vipers running in the GTS class with the Vettes. However, Team Oreca, was running the Chrysler prototype. They are the team who defeated the Vettes last year with the dreaded Vipers. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
