Hello All,

The Connecticut Autocross & Rally Team (C.A.R.T.) will be hosting a track day and time trial at Pocono's North course where the featured marque will be Corvette on May 13th. Let's see how many forum members we can get out there. It should be a hoot. This bunch runs a safe, fun and fast event and you don't have to be a member to run with them. They offer some instruction for first timers. Go to www.cartct.com for more info and to sign up. Hope to see you all there.

The Pocono event is a little far for me, but I did just sign up for the LRP event with CART for June 23rd. :yeadog:

Now all we need is good weather.

mooch,

We are starting to get more of our fellow Corvetters registered. It would be great to have a least a couple of Corvette teams. The more the merrier. The website (www.cartct.com) explains the team relay as follows:

TEAM RELAY POCONO ONLY How will it work? Each team will be assigned a Team number (1-10) and will be assigned a starting time. Team one will start first then two etc. etc. . . . All rules that apply to the practice sessions apply to the team relay. Breaking said rules constitutes disqualification. First team to cross the finish line wins. Up to 10 teams can participate. Five drivers make a team. Anyone participating can submit a team. A driver can be on one team only. A team roster shall be turned in by 11 O’clock or you will be assigned a team by the organizers. Team List should include the team Manager and the car number/Make/Model/ name of each driver. Each team must pick a team manager. The manager shall select the order in which each driver will compete. If more than 5 teams sign up, there will be two relay groups and a runoff for the winner of each section. The run off will be 15 laps, three laps for each driver.

It sounds a little confusing the way it's written but essentially up to five cars start together (one from each team) and complete 3 laps each as they finish their third lap their next teammate would start his 3 laps and so on. The team that finishes first wins. So for the relay there will never be more than ten cars on the track at one time. Passing will only be allowed in the designated areas the same as during the hot lapping part of the day so that it doesn't turn into a full wheel to wheel race. It should be fun. The club is trying something new to spice up the event. Because we limit the amount of total entries at our events to 60-70 cars some people get a tremendous amount of track time. One guy last year did over 200 miles.
