Curb damage

Well, had to happen eventually. Had to make an almost u-turn onto another street, with traffic flying along perpendicular to the turn. So, I swung around a little too tightly and bit the curb with the right rear wheel and tire.

Took a rather large gouge out of the tire, and scraped the rim. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_mad.gif /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_cry.gif At least it didn't go flat, but now have to replace the tire, and since I have close to 6000 miles, decided to order two new rear tires.

The tires are not too troubling, BUT I HATE scraping the rim. I'm hoping it can be cosmetically fixed.

Just wanted to vent...

Sorry to hear that!!! I scrapped the factory mags on my '99 and was sick!!! However, the good news was that AAA Insurance covered it after the dealer sent them pictures of the two scuffed right side mags. I had to pay the deductible, but was much less than paying for new wheels! Good luck!

Hey Derek,

/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_frown.gif Feel your pain.

Believe that would be categoried as a collision by an insurance company. New wheel is less than $500. Three years of a possible insurance rate increase would likely cost more than the replacement wheel.

On the other hand, you may have a very understanding insurance agent. Hope that's the case.

See ya next dyno day.

Hey Lazygun,

I currently have a scar on my passanger rear rim from a curb incident. The service lady at Criswell is going to have it fixed for me either in house or they are going to send it to a guy local who has fixed z06 rims for them. I will let you know how it turns out. I was quoted around $100. Craig
Given the low profile on the tires, everyone:

BE VERY CAREFUL COMING TOO CLOSE TO CURBS, YOU WILL SCRAP YOUR RIMS /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Hey Craig, I talked to her today myself. She offered the same thing...Definitely let me know how your wheel turns out.

And thanks all, for the commiseration and suggestions.

I dittoed the right front wheel on a curb today.... If you find good source for repair, please let me know. If not, maybe we can get two (or more, anyone?) replacements at a decent price????
