The other night my wife and I were driving home and we saw a Corvette coming up along the drivers side on the highway. It was dark metallic blue C5. As it passed us my wife said "look its a hardtop." I looked at it again, and said "no its a vert". We followed it a ways and as I got closer, I realized that it was a custom removable hardtop on a vert. It had a smaller window in the back and a slight bow in the center of the roof like factory. It looked outrageous. It had that bubble type hardtop like in the '60's. The car really stood out.

A vendor at Carlisle was selling them last year. He had one modeled on a C5 vert. (top in black primer) That is the only time I saw one. Apparently, GM, did not see a market for the removable hardtop on the C5. The C1 and C2 models seemed to have had the most of them. I think, because back then the majority of them were driven in the winter.
