This is a sad day for Nascar. I met him once and "in person" he's a completely different guy..... My sympath goes out to Teresa, Dale Jr. and the rest of the family.

so sad. i was just watching the daytona earlier and changed channels just after the first really big multi-car pile up. i'm sure he'll be greatly missed.
Damn!!! I watched the race from start to finish. I saw the wreck and it and it didn't seem that bad compared to the 18 car crash. This is very devistating!!. They never told what his condition was. Sad day indeed for Chevy fans, NASCAR fans, and anyone who loves racing!!
I am in total shock!!

Racing's gonna miss the Big E! I still can't believe it. I new something was up when Schrader didn't say anything like Big E was moving around or something similiar. But I didn't think it would be this. Waltrip said that no speed was scrubbed off before he hit the wall straight on. Our prayers go out to the Earnhart family.
I saw him for the first time at the Rolex a couple of weeks ago. He smiled a lot and seemed to really enjoy the Corvette experience. From the track Dr's comments, he died on impact. No visible injuries except blood in his ears and throat. He never took another breath and his heart wasn't beating. I guess he broke the base of his skull on impact. Funny, Tony Stewart seemed to hit the wall just as hard. I guess you never know. Sad day.

Just last week I was reading AW's story on the Corvette Day at Daytona and thinking what a celebrated career Dale had had. He will be sorely missed. Great loss, indeed!
1fast and I watched the last 30 or so laps together. I was going to post some pics of our cars but another time.
