Hey Ya'll

I was going to bleed my brake lines which will get rid of a little brake fluid, plus I am a little low. When I went to find out what kind of brake fluid I need the GM shop manuals say
DOT-3. But then I looked online and saw online at a number of places ATE Super Blue brake fluid which advertises DOT-4. But then in its description of the product it mentions DOT-5.

What is OEM and what should I put in my 01 Z06 so as to not mix DOT. I would like to get the performance brake fluid but I dont want to mix so I need to know if I need to flush the fluid before adding. Thanks, for anyone helping me out with this seemingly simple (yet it confuses me) question.

DOT3 is what came with your car. DOT4 has a higher boiling point and is best suited for the track. If you're not going to be going to the track, stick with the DOT3 because it's less Hygroscopic (attracts less moisture).

DOT5 is silicone based and I don't believe that it's compatible with our brake systems.
