Am I shifting the "correct" way?

To save the transmission I blip the throttle and double clutch on downshifts. This leads to some interesting stares and people that think I want to race when I am simply slowing for a stoplight. Anyone else do this on the street?

I generally see more wear and damage on the synchronizers if I don't match the transmission speed to the engine speed by double clutching on downshifts.
Most road racers I know use this method of bringing up the engine rpms to match the gear speeds in the transmission and don’t seem to have the transmission failures like the people that just slam the shifter into a lower gear and let it whine.

Frisky,

That's the way I downshift too. But, I usually just hold in the clutch when slowing down for a stop light and downshift after I come to a complete stop. The video that came with the car said that the brakes are good enough and downshifting to brake causes more clutch wear.

I blip the gas pedal most of the time when down shifting to match the engine revs to the gear selected and speed. I don't double clutch, I just press the clutch, select the gear I want, do a blip to around 3000 - 3500 rpms and then let the clutch out. This is great practice for road racing track events. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Yes, I do a blip most of the time too .. but, every now and then - it is fine if you just drop it /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif - to get the attention of others, or if want to kill your transmission -;) heh .... Drive the Vette like it is supposed to be driven ...a race car, I am especially suprised to see people over-baby the car - when the should not have bought a Z06 in the first place .. right?
