DTE Differential Oil Cooler Port Kit

We're proud to release another innovative HD driveline component for the C5/C6 Corvette differential. This product was designed and engineered by DTE to properly facilitate the use of a differential oil cooler for the C5/C6 Corvette Getrag differential.

The current common practice we've seen everyone doing of returning lubricant back to the differential via a fitting in the filler hole is *NOT* the proper method due mainly because of these reasons:

1. The user cannot possibly be able to correctly monitor and/or fill the differential lubricant level while the pump is running~ which is the right way to do this btw... This is especially important when using a cooler pump with it's associeted hoses, fittings, etc, which all hold additional oil volume other than just what the differential case itself carries.

2. By only returning the lubricant back into the filler hole, the user is reducing the effectiveness of the returned cooled lubricant, which not only increases overall temperature of the differential unit itself, but also reduces the amount of cooled oil that the ring gear desperately needs for long-term gear set life in high performance applications.

The spinning ring gear in these differentials is basically the "oil pump" that provides oil to the bearings and keeps the lubricant moving around in the case for proper component cooling and cleaning of the internal parts during operation.


We've capitalized on that inherent feature of the Getrag differential by engineering our product to work in tandem with the maufacturer's design, that effectively solves both problems described above by providing this billet aluminum weld-in bung that facilitates a –10 “oil return” port on the top of the case, directly above the spinning ring gear.

This is the *CORRECT* way to return cooled oil back to the differential unit, because it not only allows the user to see/fill the differential lube to the proper level while the pump is running as it should be, but also provides returned cooled lubricant to the TOP of the differential case, which cascades cooled lubricant directly onto the spinning ring gear, effectively providing the entire differential assembly with cooler overall operation.

All of our Stage III differentials include this port kit as standard and it is quite effective in design. The complete kit is $44.95 and includes instructions, 1 6061-T6 billet aluminum bung and 1 Aeroquip -10 male fitting. They are in stock and professional installation/welding required.

Great idea!!!

Do you have anything for the tranny? It has the same problem with the return line going into the fill port.

Indeed we do.

We've just completed the first installation here with a bung/fitting we've designed that takes the place of the !CAGS solenoid (which everyone defeats its function anyway) and it allows cooled transmission lubricant to flow over the main shaft gears for optimum internal component cooling. This allows the user to properly see/fill the lubricant level while the transmission cooler pump is in operation.
