Well, after all the wait with HRE, about a year of dreaming, and some work, it is finally finished (at least to the point of getting it to its final stage of aesthetics anyway). THE WHEELS ARE ON!!!! And we are not using photoshop this time. It looks spectacular. The pics don't quite do the car justice in person, but I included a bunch anyway.
Here is the finished product:
The front wheel (HRE 545, fully polished 18x9.5 on a 265/35 Pirelli):
And the rear wheel (HRE 545, fully polished 19x10.5 on a 295/30 Pirelli):
And again, the rear, emphasizing the Baer rotors:
Here are a few more pics in front of my office:
In town:
At home:
And at a BBQ for my old Firebird club buddies, they especially freaked when they saw it:
If you can't already tell this thing is in the weeds!!!! I lowered the front from 27 11/16" to 26 3/16", 1 1/2" total by trimming two layers of bushings off in front, and the rear from 29 5/16" to 27 5/16", 2" total with the lowering bolts in the rear! And if you really want to see the difference check it out next to my friend's factory ride height Z06:
I can only fit a fist underneath the rocker panels, three fingers under the air dam, and two fingers in the wheel wells all around, I have the rocker rails and skid plate protectors on but haven't used them yet, believe it or not, I have been careful enough not to scrape anything but the very corner undersides of the black plastic air dam, I expected mush worse, and I am extremely happy with the result. Here is the front gap with a little visual help:
And just in case you come up from behind, the vanity plate, rolled C5 plate, and quad round B&B PRT's remind you that this car means business:
Hope everyone enjoys the pics as much as I enjoy this car. People can't help but stare so far, and a ton of questions. At long last, I have my dream car!!!!!
Brian.
