I bought a millenium yellow z06 off the floor 4 weeks ago. 540 miles. Now, how do we go faster? I hear alot about intake and exhaust. Vortex and Halltec, which is better,if either, or are we fast enough. Can anyone explain what I an hearing about water coming up through the intake? The dealer said not to change anything. What about b&b headers? Does lowering the car change handeling? More later

Do these mods affect resale one way or the other. I own outright, no payments. just want to go fast

I put long tube headers on my C5 and will put them on my 02'Z06 when I get, the first or second day. I have Vortex and will probably get another one for the Z06, you would have to drive through some deep water to ever have a problem, but the Vortex would be better against water because the filter sits higher.

Open up your stock filter holder and use a high flow K&N filter...beats the expensive aftermarket stuff and works just as well. Basically, you are after less restrictive air flow. Already have cold air via the front air ducts, so no advantage to cutting the shroud.
Enjoy the Z06!

#1 mod...get an intake...Votex, Halttech, Donaldson, Corvette Concepts...makes no difference, they all do the same thing. You will have to weight the differences yourself.

If you want to wake up your Z, just put an intake on and hold on to your ass!!

I'm with BOBSZ06 on the K&N filter. Check my sig. Lowering improves handling a little but improves the look a lot.

Mr Cool:

If you can afford it talk to Lingenfelter, Mallett, Rippie, Spectrewerks, etc.
These are the pros.

The old adage, How fast do you want to go? How much money do you have?

A word about mods. You will generally not get back what you paid for them when you sell or trade your car.

That said, mods definitely get the extra ponies out of the car. Try to go with mods that can readily be reversed (keep the stock parts) so you can install on the new car, or sell outright. Many new Vette owners do not want or are leary of "modded" cars.

Zippy is right, it all depends on how much $$ you want to sink into the car. Some guys go for the appearence mods to personalize their rides, as well. It just depends on your personal tastes and if you plan to race the car or not.

Dennis I do not think that is so, I am sure I will get back at least 5k on every 25k I spend
You are 100% correct never plan on any mods making your car worth more money, do the mods because you want to do them and not for resale value.

My post said "you will generally not get back what you paid for them". I think we really are in agreement here, as you state.... " I am sure I will get back 5k for every 25K I spend". That pretty much backs up my statement.
