Been lurching since the forum started up back in January. Figured I better finally say hello and thank everyone for all the terrific tips I've read on this place. You guys are all great. Got my black on black Z06 last week and have been enjoying it immensely. It is my 6th black car in row so you might say I'm in a bit of a rut! Anyhow I'd thought I'd try to pay back everyone who has posted a helpful tip with one of my own. Those of you who are thinking of simply replacing the stock air filter with a K&N filter; installation is a cinch if you follow this advice. I know some of you have had a hard time, not with the filter, but with the gasket. Before you attempt the installation, simply cut a quarter inch wide piece of the pressure sensitive backing off all 4 corners. Then place the gasket where it belongs. The 4 small exposed areas of the gasket will hold it in place without making it impossible to move around and obtain the right fit. Then carefully remove the top most piece of backing and stick the gasket down again. Do the same with one side, then the other. Finally remove the bottom strip and stick it down too. This can be done in less than a minute or two especially if you have a significant other helping you; you know supplying the beer and holding the air box open. Hope this helps some of you who are thinking of this inexpensive and very effective mod. Thanks again for the hours of enjoyment I get on this forum, and I look forward to many more. P.S. I know my username implies I play tennis but I'm afraid I'm just a spectator now as these old bones just won't permit it. Doug /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
