yeh, am driving home, from the track, 6 hr drive, cracked rotor and all, rain is POURING down, now on RESERVE fuel 10 miles from home.

I stop for gas-fuel door won't open! yehp, guess the spring release was worn out.

Oh well, lasted for 50K miles

anyone else have this problem?

Hi
I did have this problem on a much lower mileage car.
Had the C4C5 specialist fix it for me.
By me it was a bad switch.
Page him and ask him for his input.

called 1-800-chevy and they couldn't tell me, then the dealership said there was a cable in the back. couldn't find it, but did see the release cable in the center-that one must be for the trunk...?

Your secondary fuel door release is just aft of where your partition is on along the drivers side wall. It may be underneath the carpet somewhere.

It is under the carpet a little more forward if you follow the window molding down.. I had to find ours at the last track day :jawdrop: But I think our trans guys forgot to hook it back up :drunk:

thanks everyone-will go out to the vette today and try to find the release!

yeh "tapping" didn't do a thing, even trying to PRY the door open with a screwdriver did nothing. a mechanic ended up getting it open by jimmying the spring while I held the release button down in the center console.

A screwdriver, WOW some mechanic. Every car made that has an electric release for the fuel door has a mechanical release in the trunk area. This is a federal law. I hope no damage was done to your black beauty. :jawdrop:

I was the one using the screwdriver:lol:

the mechanic used a thin pen and worked the mechanism open, like you would when you are breaking into a house or car

yeh Norman, I did the "batt my eyes" thing:rofl: actually I gave him a $20 and told him to have a cold one on me:thumb:
