Well it happened, two weeks after getting the Z.

Problem is I got one 11 months ago in my 2000 FRC and went to traffic school.

Will insurance companies raise your rates with one speeding ticket on it? it was for 83 in a 65.

By the way I live in The Bay Area in California.

Thanks,
Donovan

Hello in general, insurance companies do not check a clients drivers abstract very often usually every 3 years or more. Each state is different. If you do not change companies, they will not pick up the tickets. Keep that right foot firmly planted, any both eyes wide open...db

Fight it,
Go to court and with a competent lawyer or your insurance will skyrocket.
In Florida, there is a firm that will fight most cases and guarantee victory for only $70.00, the catch is that you must have clean record(no tickets or accidents) in the past two years.

Fight the ticket...I had not had a ticket in 15 years...no accidents in 24...got a speeding ticket three years ago here locally in Virginia...USAA raised my rates within 6 months and they stard that way for three years. Then they tell me I have to have 5 additional years of no accidents/tickets to get back in the companies preferred rate group. FIGHT ON!

I wrote a letter to the judge and requested defered adjudication. This is like probation for tickets. You and the judge agree on a time period in which you must remain ticket free (usually 90 days but you can negotiate less time). You will have to pay "court costs" which miraculously are equal to the fine. If you stay clean through the probation period the the ticket never appears on your record and you avoid taking that rediculous defensive driving. If you get another ticket before the time is up then both tickets go on your record.
Hope that helps!

I found a pretty cool way to fight your ticket. I think this offered everywhere in the U.S (you may need to check. Just like the deferred judification, only offered in certain counties). This may take a little time, but most likely you will end up paying nothing and get nothing put on your record either. It worked a 100% with all the people I know so far. First of all, you need to show up in court at your court date. When the Judge ask you "guilty or not guilty", you need to say, not guilty. Then you ask for a "JURY TRIAL". The Judge has to set a date for you. When you show up to the court on your next court date, guess what happen? More likely, there will be no Jury, and the Cop won't be there either.... The results: you get to go without paying anything.

Let put this in perspective a little bit here. How much do you think it will cost to have a jury of 12 people? A lot of $$$.. I don't know the exactly number, but I know it's probably more than your ticket. But, if there jury is there, the cop may not. So, the chance is in your favor. If you are so unlucky that both the jury and the cop are there, then you ask the Judge for a delay. You may get lucky next time...

this process may take up a lot of your time, and it's only worth if you got a ticket in your home town.

Good luck

Sorry about the ticket. Who got you? CHP, County Mountie or local police? Since I'll be driving my Z06 in the Bay Area soon, I'd like to know where you were ticketed.

Mgarfias: It was nice meeting you too unfortunatly I forget names easily. How did your dyno session go? I will give you a buzz when I am ready to go racin. Zaino should be here tomorrow. I will be busy though, my girlfriend just bought a 01' Cabrio and I introduced her to the Zaino web site. Needless to say I will be Zainoing two cars this weekend.

Jerboa: It happened on 280S in SDan Jose at about 10PM. It was really a bonehead move. I was in the fast lane doing about 80 when this car comes up on me and starts tail gating me. I thought it was a Mustang Cobra I had passed a few exits back. So I stepped up to about 85, still on my ass. So I move over to the next right lane and the car starts to accelerate on me, right about the time he hits my blind spot I drop her into 3rd and gun it. Well there goes his car lighting up like a christmas tree. And the rest is history. NEVER play at night. Lesson learned.
