Power Shifter Test

I find it somewhat disturbing that there appears to be some resistance to outside objective testing of the product. I would think that this offer whould be jumped on if the product is as good as it is indicated to be. Just think of the number of orders that would be generated if Powershifter dropped into the 11's with the Sidewinder or if he picked up .2 in ET on a given day. My experience with engines and dyno development projects (including writing machine language code for acquiring data and then processing it) indicated that SAE correction factors are not always that accurate. Atmospheric conditions have a huge impact on results and can cause a major shift in output. Some NASCAR teams duplicate track underhood temperature and track intake air temperatures to assure engine dyno accuracy. The point of all this is that you can't beat track testing to really determine the value of a modification on the vehicle. By the way, some teams also use chassis dyno load cells that are coupled directly to the axles to avoid tire variability in their testing.

I'm ready, the car is ready. Next Saturday we take it through the 1/4 mile.

Jim, Did you get that sidewinder on the 01? I am still interested in trying your system for my self, on my car at the track. I don't have the energy to try to follow the logic of the dyno's as I ONLY care about on track performance. If you belive that the sidewinder will make a real world differance to my K&N in the stock box I would like to buy one if it comes with a money back garranty. I call them as I find them are you willing? No flames,No shet, just a straight out REAL WORLD ON TRACK TEST by someone who can drive and want's to go faster. Ric

I installed one on a 2001 Z06 two weeks ago. Also took out the honeycomb laminar screen.

The youngster who owns the car (18 years old) called and told me that when he powershifts into second gear now, "the car fishtails sideways!"

You would be better off with the TRIC rather than the SideWinder.

Jim, I am not willing to assume the risk of instaling the tric, as I belive the weather risks are grater than I am willing to assume for the gain that might be had. The side winder is less risky IMO and if there realy was a gain of 16hp, as uneasy as I am, to even cut the stock lid because of increseing the chance of water damage I would have tryed it for that gain. I want you to know from me that my only aim in my posts on power and drag raceing is to try to share what has and hasen't worked for me, if I can save some of the other members from some of the expence and mistakes I have seen and made in the last 40 years isen't that the ultimate goal of these fourms? It is for me. Ric

Jim, I was disappointed that my recent order was missing a TBCB hose kit which I requested at the same time I ordered the Cobra CF MAG (at a great sale price I might add). I wasn't charged for the TBCB, so no harm, no foul. But is this because you do not sell that item ala carte. I'm also in the market for a LTSTAT (160 deg F initial open, which I have yet to see offered for the LS6). What type do you sell for the LS6? And what's up with your radiator cooling fan controller? When will these items be available and can I buy them ala carte?

TBCB Hoses

Are no longer included in our kits. The TBCB connector is, however, which accomplishes the same thing, but with the stock hoses. The red silicone hoses are extra, and add nothing but looks.

Call me Monday, and we'll send the TBCB connector free of charge, it should have been sent with the TRIC or SideWinder systems.

I thought you wanted the best system for performance. We have 450 Z06s running our TRIC with no problems. I do, however understand your concern. All intakes will take in water during flooded conditions, the TRIC will sooner due to its ram air (not true ram air) effect.

The T-1 SideWinder made 16+ RWHP and +20 lbs. ft. more than stock 25 minutes after installing it, PCM relearn (12 miles) and the engine was hot, with the water temp at 198.

When the oil cools down to below 210 degrees, we see a loss of power on the dyno with all intakes.

Our dynos are done with the same water temps, oil temps, air intake (ambient) with fan in front of the car (35mph furnace fan) and that's it.

Our SideWinder pulls, were done back to back with little cooldown, with the 3rd pull matching the 1st pull of 367/357 within .5 RWHP and .5 RWT.

Jim, All I really wanted to know was if your money back guarantee coverd the Sidewinder instaled on an 01 Z06 if there was no gain over the 51 dollar k&N on the drag strip. I for one don't care what it does or doesen't do on the dyno. I jet dizzy trying to get a straight answer to a simple question from you. After concidering your rheteric I will NEVER use any of your products. Ric
