We are very close to having the all carbon fiber Halltech TRIC underhood system complete. We are manufacturing 100 systems initially and will be looking at keeping the cost way down compared to our TRIC Racing S-Type system.

The SideWinder will be dyno and track tested before release. The 4" system comes with the exclusive Halltech carbon fiber MAG and now the carbon fiber TRIC with the Z900 Wedge filter, which will be placed directly in the path of the driver's side air vent for cool air. This is not a true cold air or ram air system, and no holes need to be cut at all. 15 minute installation.

Pricing for the forum members (Corvette Forum, & C5forum will be discounted 5% through our website's Group Purchase area.

I guess we are not allowed to announce pricing, but I can only say, we are digging deep into the margin barrel on this system.

We may have a few Red Kevlar systems, but the material is price prohibitive and our cost is double for this material .vs the black carbon fiber.

Where is the aggressive pricing Jim? A couple weeks ago your black mag was $299 and the red mag was $369 on GP @ CF. Taking 5% of your web site puts your price much higher than it was just a couple weeks ago.

Pricing you indicate is for the MAG by itself, which was our Group Purchase price.

The SideWinder/MAG package was one price with the MAG included, now it is lower. Hope this explains it. I do not think I can post pricing here, so if you add the price of the MAG to the price of the SideWinder you will see that the new pricing is considerable lower.

The SideWinder/MAG is the complete system, not just the MAG. It is the carbon fiber tunnel, carbon fiber max airflow generator, Z850 filter, coolant bypass hose and vacuum hose package.

CorvetteSS: You're right.

Hope this doesn't cause a problem. I'm sure the moderators will move it if necessary.

Why is this thread posted in the performance section. Shouldn't this be in the new products section?

Sheesh, I get enough of this on the Corvette Forum.

Never had stainless steel. Have you tried keeping up with processor changes lately?

By the way. Our original two-piece design IS the Sidewinder. It was made to go through the shroud, or under the hood, and disappeared when we felt that we could provide a cleaner unit with the one piece design.

The one piece design is our race version, making the most horsepower as you know. The two piece was reintroduced because of the concern over water issues, which started in 1999 after the incident you reported, when your friend locked up his engine (Joe) with the competitions bottom breather and most recently a hydrolock incident happening here in CA, which we consider a real case.

As you stated then, no one believed you. We were also very skeptical. We have 1400 systems all over the world, with only one incident that we consider a real case of water ingestion. One is one to many, so we took the responsible route and resurrected the two piece for those wishing to avoid bottom breathing altogether.

Sorry to confuse you.

None whatsoever. We also have a pre-filter we call the "Proflolactic", which filters out even the smallest particulates and it is water-resistant.

Prototype testing to begin March 23rd.

Thanks,

Jim

Jim, I had one of the first Halltech systems it was definately different than the second one I bought six months later, the first one was duller and thiner with not as much strenth as the second one. If you made the clamps to tight on the earlier version, it would actually bend the metal, the second one I had looked like a mirror, and was much harder, that is why I thought it was stainless steel, actually someone even pointed this out to me, and this is one of the reasons I bought the new one, back then I originally was just going to update the filter from K&N to donaldson(on my 2000), but after seeing how much better the new one was, I just bought the whole thing. This was at a time you were just selling one system, the only claimed difference was the air filter. I sold the first unit, but saved the original blue connectors, because you were now useing red, I wish you could of saw how awesome the halltech blue looked with my Navy Blue Car! Regardless I still havent bought an aftermarket intake for my Z06, I would have bought your system along time ago but I always want the latest and greatest product, but yours changes every month, and I'm afraid that if I get your system now, a few months after you will invent something that is way better, this is the only thing stopping me from buying your product for the third time. As you can see I think your product is kick ass, hell Ive had two of them so far, and am considering a third, but those are my concerns. And for the record, I never experienced anything bad with the halltech, and even drove through a lake like puddle one time without any bad effects, funny thing is that I sold, my old halltech to my friend who damaged his motor with a different system(dont worry he had to sell his vette and now drives a 97 Trans AM), that is how much I raved your product. If I purchase another one from you it will be the Bottombreather version, I have also raved about your products to a couple of friends(C5 owners Darsh Dillon, being one of them) who have purchased your system, due to my influences.

I feel your pain. Actually, the processor wars make me not want to buy until the new bad boy comes out. At 1.2 Ghz now my AMD is so fast, more might be better, but not by much.

Our product has gone through transistion from the very first system, that was T0 6061. We then started heat treating the aluminum to T6 condition at our cost, without passing that cost on to the consumer.

Remember the days when folks sent 4" hole cutters across the country? We now provide a template, hole cutter, and an installation CD with every purchase. Full tech support and a lifetime warranty on our system.

It doesn't get much better than Titanium. Trust me we will not improve upon that. 100 were made, and that will be the end of them. It took 27 weeks to get the product and 3 weeks to process it.

Thanks for the kind words Dave.
