When I start and the car is cold, a strange high pitch mechanical noise happens...sometimes. It is pretty loud, so it is hard to tell what area the noise is coming from.
As soon as the car is warmed up, the noise goes away and all is well.

Any thoughts?
I am worried that I might be hurting something.

I forget if the pcm in closed or open loop during warmup.
What extra mechanics are involved during warmup that "turn off" when the loop changes.

I am going to try to get a sound clip, and update the post.

Any advice would be appreciated.

But I Believe That Is The Air Pump For The Air Injection System Making That Noise. When Car Is Cold It Is Supposed To Pump Air Into The Exhaust To Feed The Converters, Once Warm It Shuts Off.

Right Next To The Driver Side Headlamp. Follow The Air Tubes That Come Together By The Brake Booster Forward To The Headlamp Area And You Will Find It.
