My Vette is still still at the dealer. It's been a week and a day. I just spoke with them and they said at the latest my car will be ready by Friday. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_frown.gif /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Doesn't the dealer know it's 85 degrees out and I need to drop the top and drive by the beach? /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_confused.gif

Anyone want to lend me theirs? /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I drove my 93 Torch Red convert into work today...it is sunny and about 88 degrees. The problem is that now that I have the Z06...that is all I want to drive! Wait until you get yours...you will see what I mean! What a ride! Damn the Z06 is goood!!!
Long story, but here it is...

The initial reason I brought it in was for a 5th gear synchro problem. They determined it would
be cheaper to replace the tranny. Overnight, while my car was on the lift (in the air), the
mechanic didn't put the saftey on (why this isn't automatic is beyond me), and my car ended
up on the ground. Who knows how fast or slow it came down but it ended up clipping a tool
box and a floor jack. Resulting in my rocker pannel and rear fascia cracking. So, to make a long
story longer , they replaced and painted both pieces. However, the paint wasn't even close
to matching, had bad orange peal, paint drips, and over spray on my rim and brake calliper. In
addition to all that, now my remote CD changer wasn't functional. So now my car is back at the
body shop and hopefully I'll get it for the weekend.

FINN01,

Make sure those guys at the bodyshop doesn't short change you. I had to take my 92 LT1 in for a cosmetic repair one time and the paint job was horrible. There are all kind of orange peel and oversprays on the car. You have to make them do it right infront of you. Take your time and make them do it right. It's your $50K car and you are the one who have to look at it everyday. It doesn't matter what kind of car you bring in, a $50K beautiful Corvette or a $13K awful looking cavalier, they will treat it the same. It's your job to point it out to them, that there are a big difference between the two and how you want them to treat your car.

Just my experience......

Good luck
I can feel your pain.........
Well that really sucks /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_frown.gif I hope your car is 100% when you get it back.

I hope you realize that you can make the dealer order you a new painted rear fascia from the factory along with any other parts for the rear. As far as the rocker panel goes - have them re-paint it until you are totally satisfied. Removing the rocker panel can only be done by breaking it off.

Many moons ago, I had a VW microbus - in the 70's - really neat experience that was - the mechanics left for lunch and the hydraulic lift kept inching upwards and hit the lift up rolling door hardware and punctured the roof. They did a poor job blending the red paint and said that my paint was faded too much on the roof. You just never forget that kind of stuff. Are they taking your 2001 in trade on the 2002 ? Cause if they are...... its their problem coming back to haunt them.

I'll let you know how the car comes out. I pick it up tomorrow.

To answer your question, yes, I am trading it in for a 2002. My delivery date isn't until Nov 2001. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_frown.gif I'll never win a car show now./phpBB/images/smiles/icon_frown.gif
