Question? I've only got 123 miles on my new toy and I am getting a hot electical smell after running for a short time. Checked under the hood and found the alternator was extremely hot to the touch , too hot to keep your hand on.Battery voltage reads 13.8-14.2 and seems alright.Seeing this is my first vette I'm not sure what is normal, have not talked to the dealer yet. My alternator is too hot to touch after a 30 minute drive. But I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think all the heat is being generated from the alternator per se. The heating condition seems to be a combination of poor airflow up near the hood insulation and that it's located between the radiator and the driver's side exhaust manifold.
