I got my title this week and registered the new Z yesterday.

In Arkansas you have to visit the tax office first to add the new vehicle to your property tax assessment. The clerk asked, "did you take a factory delivery?" I thought that was an interesting question. I told her, "no, I was supposed to but they were too booked up so I had it drop shipped." Come to find out she was originally from Bowling Green, said she lived there when the population was 1,000 people.

Then down to DMV, had a slight snag there as my insurance company sent me an insurance card which said the insurance wasn't effective until next week. On the phone again and they faxed the proof of insurance to the DMV office.

The DMV clerk wasn't sure how to handle an out of state title that was clear of liens but finally figured that out. They also didn't know the weight so I told them, 3130 lbs. When she gave me my bill which was $5346.00, mostly sales taxes, she said, "I've never collected on that large," I told her, "well, I have never paid one that large before either."

Of course, here now I will get hit with probably $1,000 in property taxes on the new Z next year and that figure drops every year.

Zero. No sales tax in Montana. Elk tag was $7 though.

Ok guys, don't fall off your seats but here are my taxes. I will be increasing the options but never the less.

We pay, in QUEBEC: 7% Goods and Services (Federal)
& 7.5% Provincial Sales TaX

So, in addition to taking more than half of your pay check (53%) they also ding you everytime you buy something. If I were not in love with this city and have all of my family here, I would move south. Especially since I have a beautiful Floidian wife.
Umm..you forgot the luxury tax that you have to pay 1% extra on the difference for any car over $40 000 CAD! And the extra $200 a year to plate any car with over 5.1L engine!
I just got off the temporary tags and the registration here in NH was $1079, with zero sales tax. It goes down each year based on some depreciation schedule. BTW, the insurance for this car added $409 to my existing policy. It actually was like $500 but they took off $100 off of my truck policy for multi-car discount.

I just stumbled upon this 18-year-old thread and I noticed your post about the sales tax and registration fees for your new C6 Z06. That's one sweet ride, bro! I hope you're enjoying it. Anyway, I don't know how much you ended up paying for those fees, but I just wanted to chime in and say that creating fake paystubs to try and save money on those fees might be the way to go, man. It's risky and could get you in some serious trouble, but, if you use it correctly, it might be a great tool. Plus, it's just cool. You can use a pay stub creator like PayStubCreator.net to generate legit pay stubs if you need them for any reason.
