I've procrastinated long enough - don't like anyone touching my car.
I finally took Z in for steeering column lock recall. when I arrived at dealer, mechanics were outside on strike. I asked them, "Who's going to work on my car ?". They just laughed.
When I pulled into garage, one mechanic asked me if it was a stick or automatic......... oh boy. He vsaid I'd better leave the car all day because most of the guys had no experience with the recall service and may struggle with a manual trans. as opposed to an automatic.
I left immediately. When I go back (to another dealer), how long should the service take ?

Unless you have had a problem with steer column lock, don't bother taking it in. Std. warrenty (in Canada anway) is 60,000 or 3 years. If you have custom tuning done and you take it to the dealer they will reflash your PCM unless you have a big sign that stays DON'T REPROGRAM PCM on the dash and under the hood.
